Where can I find these giant round cookie sprinkle things?

My friend Peabody knows the creator of that cookie and says the lights are royal icing..

I said, "You think?"

She said, "I know."

Well, okay then. She did offer some other options including mini M&Ms and covered sunflower seeds.

If you want a tutorial on how to do the royal icing dots, she pointed me to this website, saying the tutorials are fantastic. Holy motherload of cookie decorating! It's a whole other world out there..... Looks to me like you want stiff royal icing, but check the other tutorials. Lots of good stuff here.

Really!! I am amazed but I guess someone might do it for sale to the public so it

makes sense. Interesting.

Interesting! I kinda thought they were piped as the dots varied in size. Thanks for the website,

Traca, lots of good info there.

I think using these seed pearls would be easier than coloring that many different hues

and having to make parchment triangles for each color. And keep each tip from drying out.

The blog is gone now...but I have the link if anyone knows how to access....

I did read it when it came out (Pink Apron Baker) and thought she mentioned using Nonpareil Candy Sprinkles in the tutorial. Pretty sure I asked where she got them in the tutorial comments section and never got an answer. If these are piped, can someone tell me how she got them so round without a hint of point on them? I do know how to pipe a round like that, but I've never seen/got them so perfect looking.

http://pinkapronbaker.blogspot.ca (I can get this in the wayback machine, but not the post below unless someone else knows how to do it.)

Here is a photo of mine vs hers so you can see the size difference

I was able to find nonpareil sprinkles locally in the extra large size at a cake supplies store, but not multi-colored ones. The ones you see in my photo were the biggest multi colored ones I found in my local search, because naturally I left getting them till the last minute that year.

Note: this is a huge 6+ inch cookie.

Still not sure they are piped (they seems so much rounder than the border ones in the above link Traca posted and only the red ones are smaller). Those are clearly piped, they are flatter and some do have peaks you can see (like mine). Or, the person that made them with Snoopy is an outstanding piper (that I can never hope to be, lol).

I have done this for other friends on eat.at. edited to say, that I ge overwhelmed w so many things.... I am not a sweet / dessert person.

I get over whelmed, but happy to pick up and mail for you anything you can't get in CA.

Best,
Barb

I do need to bring the ear up...

I was trying to follow the imprint on the cookie. Since hers are flipped over I think she was looking at the cutter itself for guidance, which I now think is the better way to go.

We do have an old fashioned candy store here, but I did try that as well back then. I think the 4mm ones Marilyn found are the way to go. (I found them online at a cake supply store for $1.95 a jar, but $11.95 shipping!)

We grab a bag of multi-colored mini M&Ms to approximate Christmas lights. They are not...

....perfectly round, as I'm sure you know, but they look good, are cheap, and can be found practically anywhere.

I am guessing you use these for your cookie tree? I love that idea! It has been on my list forever

but I really am not a cookie eater / baker, so still have not gotten around to them. I just love the idea though!!!! I am more inspired to have the kids cook laarb or a hungarian dish than bake. I need to get over this, as our dd loves desserts!!!

I'm coming your way Monday morning otherwise I would've checked Surfas for you

I'm sure they would probably carry them. smileys/frown.gif
