Will be in NYC April 30 to May 3. Blowing it all on Hamilton ticket. I hope it worth it.

There are other bus-to-subway routes from LGA into Manhattan

And if you search, lots of opinions on which is best smileys/wink.gif MTA advises Q70 SBS to be quicker. We were going to try the Q70 last time - and then we stuck with the M60 because it was late, we were tired and we know how to do the M60. YMMV Colleen

Check out NYC (and Charlotte) Goldstar for discounted tickets

Check out Goldstar for your dates (page down on left). We've been able to see some fantastic NYC productions, in excellent seats, at substantial discounts, and without having to wait at TKTS. Great ideas for what's playing and things-to-do smileys/wink.gif We loved Carol King's "Beautiful" - I see that it's still in NYC through Goldstar. Check Goldstar for Charlotte, too. Colleen

No, no service charge - just $243.45 for front orchestra. Ticketmaster's verified

fan presale is good if you get selected. They announce that tickets will go on sale for verified (not bot) people on a certain date - so you sign up ahead of time. Then on that specified day, a select # of people are emailed/texted that they've been chosen to buy tickets. I was lucky enough to be chosen. And then you scramble to find tickets. You may or may not find any. I wasn't looking for a large lot (8 is max) so it was easier for me.
They did this for Springstein on Broadway.
They're doing this for Harry Potter on Broadway too. Signed up for the first round verified fan purchase, but didn't get selected to buy. They're doing another round of ticket releases beginning of February, so I signed up again. Hopefully I'll get selected. I've been taking a friends son to Broadway shows for 6 years now - that's his birthday present. This year he turns 13 and I'm hoping to get the Potter tickets since there's nothing else I think he'd like to see right now. Thank goodness for Disney, since those were his early shows, along with Annie (his first show), and last year was Wicked.

Lucky you! Dh and I loved it and so did our 28yo son

who was not at all familiar with Carol King's music and now is a fan. We did not know about her years as a major songwriter, from 16 years old! So very many of "her" early hits were sung by others smileys/wink.gif Colleen

We used Lyft while in Manhattan for longer trips, and it worked out really well.

Plus we got to meet and chat with the drivers, which can be part of the fun of the local experience.

We were traveling with kids, so sometimes it was easier to Lyft than navigate multiple subways, especially at the end of a long hot day.

Marilyn - Did you see the $25 new extra daily charge at Lex?

It's still our favorite NY hotel - cheaper than other hotels, even with the fee, and the location is perfect. You can try to argue against the fee at check-in but will probably need to follow up at check-out. Colleen

We're gearing up to do Lyft/Uber for the first time

in Vegas. Expecting that we will still get around on various public transportation without it but (finally) loading apps and preparing for "just-in-case." Thanks for the heads up smileys/wink.gif Colleen

Taking N or W subway from M60 to 59th&Lex, exit/walk WITH traffic

from 59th on the east side of Lexington (southbound) towards the Lexington Hotel (at SE corner on 48th Street). Street numbers decrease as you go along with the one-way traffic.

For a shorter walk, you can also:
1. TRANSFER to 6 Subway without exiting terminal at 59th&Lexington, taking 6-Line Downtown/Southbound to the next stop - 51st/Lexington. Exit and walk with traffic to hotel.

OR,
2. You can transfer to the 4,5 or 6 at 59th/Lexington going Downtown/Southbound to Grand Central (42nd Street). Exit and walk AGAINST traffic back north along Lexington to hotel at 48th. Colleen

Yes, I did. The customer service guy explained I get $30 worth of credit at the bar or

for snacks. So. Odd...they charge and then kind of force you to use it or lose it. I'll be using it, my friend.

Metropolitan Art Museum is also changing their fee structure. In March, only NY residents or

ANY student can use the "pay whatever" option. Everyone else has to pay the full price, but the ticket is good for 3 days.

If they hadn't added the three day option, I'd have skipped it this time. I can't walk on marble for enough hours at one time to justify $25....or whatever the new fee will be. But I'll do it if I can use it for 3 days.

From Lex last fall - may be different now so ask

"Starting August 10, 2017, we introduced a destination fee that provides the following benefits to our guests:
* $20 per day Beverage Credit
* Unlimited Filtered Sparkling and Still Water (w/bottle)
* Enhanced Wi-Fi
* Business and Local / Long Distance / International Calls
* (2) Citi bike passes per day
* 500 points per day in compensation for Gold and Platinum
* $30 Laundry/Valet Credit per day"

Bring laundry you need to have done smileys/wink.gif

Ask for coupons for each of the Destination Fee benefits at check-in.

Also ask to be upgraded to a higher floor, better room (they likely won't unless you ask smileys/wink.gif. Tell them you're staying with them again and in NYC celebrating your 65th birthday! See if they might want to comp your breakfast in the lounge (or Raffles). Colleen

My son and I tried Lyft for the first time in the Spring during a visit to SF.

We have used it about 20 times since then, and have had nothing but positive experiences.
