Yotam Ottolenghi Butternut Parmigiana

oh...I love that man's work. I have two of his cookbooks if you ever need one of those recipes (Plenty and Jerusalem). I enjoyed two of his delis while in London last year.

Yes, his recipes are yummy. Even though it’s 97°F out I’ve already started getting in the Fall mood.

Sad though because I’m going to be without my twin kids, who can you believe it just turned 16. And Fall and Halloween were always our special time. I never met anybody more crazy for pumpkin flavored things than their mom. She suddenly passed away in March, so this will be the first pumpkin season without her, and without me. Unfortunately, their landlord giving no explanation and not returning any of his emails, calls, or text after 14 years next door has evicted them. It’s all very suspicious. All the landlord said to them was I’ve been fired as trustee, he hasn’t cashed their rent check in months, and the last rent check was sent back because he had moved w no forwarding address. They talked to a lawyer and it’s not legal, but eventually they would figure out how to get them out legally, so they are moving and will be out the first of the month. Sob.

Oh, what a sad state of affairs for that family. One terrible issue after another

Yes, I worry for them. My neighbor both offered more rent and/or to buy the house, with no reply. We always organized our Halloween yard themes together, gave out candy together, and shared a spooky dinner on the driveway. At Christmas they organized neighborhood caroling. Plus, we were each others emergency contact. I will miss them tremendously.
