You ok out there Randi. Just heard wind gusts of 85 mph on the Oregon coast!

we're fine right now, thanks for asking. the winds have just started kicking up and

they are saying it will be the worst storm in decades. our ground is saturated from almost a month of rain. we can expect more slides and trees coming up by the rootball.

right now, SF has been hit hard. they are getting rain that will be measured in feet, not inches. 70 mph winds on the Golden Gate are turning trucks over. Coast Hwy is closed due to log trucks blown over.

we're honkered down and hope the power stays on. I have the gas stove so I can cook for us if we do lose it. Alfredo comes to mind smileys/smile.gif

BTW - Don put Food TV on and Paula Deen was actually cooking without all the

butter and cream. for the first 15 min I found her accent charming. after that, all I could think of was when is the "english version" coming out! '-)))

It was a wild ride today.....

Huge amounts of rain and heavy winds in Redding. We lost a giant oak tree that had five trees coming out of a single base. I awoke to a neighbor knocking on the door to tell us we had trees on our house. It fell, ever so silently over our garage. A close-by oak tree cushioned the blow or it would have crushed our entire garage with my car in it. Gene was in San Francisco, so I was here to handle it all. By 12:30 p.m. the tree guys had all the trees off our roof and a path cleared so I could get my car out. They will be back Monday to do the chipping and cutting up the large wood. Very trying day! Now, for Sunday they are predicting snow in the valley. I hope NOT!

Wild ride here too Karen, gusty 60 mph winds and over 4 inches of rain in just a few hours. Calming

down now (whew)! Was worried we'd lose power and I'd be cooking dindin in the motorhome. ;o)

I'm so happy to hear you both are OK!!! the weather reports are getting more and more

concerning. Pat, will you be able to get your flight out tomorrow?

Karen, I'm glad the tree didn't come down on the house itself.... whew!

we seem to be getting somewhat of a reprieve and they are now saying the winds will be around 65. it looks like CA has been hit hard. I hope you both continue to be safe.

Karen, I heard SF was hit hard. I hope your DH is safe and snugged in somewhere.

Oh gosh, you guys, I hope you all are okay. Check in and let us know everything is okay!

it's almost 9:30pm here and things are quite..... and I'm so gratefull that the

reports were wrong. CA seems to have gotten the brunt of it all and they are say the Sierra Nevada's will have ten ft of snow by the end of the weekend... holly moley! I hope our CA friends are safe through this.

thanks for being here with us, it helps when I get a bit anxed with the storms coming in and I know you are here and care.

sweet dreams dear ones ....

how are our CA swappers this morning? I hope you and your families are

safe. CA got hit so hard and this morning they are saying that about 6 thousand people are without electric in the bay area. now they are worried about mud slides :-0

Karen, have you heard from Gene? is he able to get home?

we were lucky and it didn't hit the central coast as hard as they had predicted, so all is well for us. we did have some rare thunder and lightening over the pacific last night and it was beautiful.

we'll be getting some more gusts today but nothing over 60 mph and that's just pretty normal for this time of year. smileys/smile.gif

It was calm through the night. More "normal" rain coming today, which is fine

and good and will help with the previously forecasted drought (but geez, why did mother nature choose to dump it all in one day...lol). The area we live in is considered flood-prone...in fact there's a concrete flood channel approximately 20 feet wide by 30 feet high running through the middle of our backyard and yesterday the water came up about 3/4 the height of the canal and was flowing like a mad raging river. It was a sight to see...that's a whole lotta rain. Through it all I kept thinking we've got nothing on folks who live in tornado and hurricane-prone regions. We have alot to be thankful for.

Homemade roast chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and roasted veggies was just the ticket last night...pure comfort food.)

I'm so happy to hear that! some areas are just a mess. will you be able to

get your flight out today?

We had spurts of excitement in Southern CA, but nothing like PatNoCal and those up north.

I'm just hoping all the sandbags held for the burned areas.

Oh goody, thunderbumpers! What next???

We had almost 4 inches of rain yesterday. Power was out for 5 hrs. So windy!!!
We went to the local brewery, took forever. Trees down everywhere, streets flooded, 101 and bridges closed. Was a mess. Reminds me of 2 yrs ago when we had a mud slide 2 houses down.
