I really like Alton Brown's REC: Granola Bars...

Granola Bars

Recipe By: Alton Brown
Serving Size

Ingredients:

8 ounces old-fashioned rolled oats, approximately 2 cups
1 1/2 ounces sunflower seeds, raw, approximately 1 cup
3 ounces sliced almonds, approximately 1 cup
1 1/2 ounces wheat germ, approximately 1/2 cup
6 ounces honey, approximately 1/2 cup
1 3/4 ounces dark brown sugar, approximately 1/4 cup
1 ounce unsalted butter, plus extra for pan
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
6 1/2 ounces dried fruit, chopped, any combination

Directions:

1. Butter a 9 by 9-inch glass baking dish and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Spread the oats, sunflower seeds, almonds, and wheat germ onto a half-sheet pan. Place in the oven and toast for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. In the meantime, combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, extract and salt in a medium saucepan and place over medium heat. Cook until the brown sugar has completely dissolved.

4. Once the oat mixture is done, remove it from the oven and reduce the heat to 300 degrees F. Immediately add the oat mixture to the liquid mixture, add the dried fruit, and stir to combine. Turn mixture out into the prepared baking dish and press down, evenly distributing the mixture in the dish and place in the oven to bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Sure, I'll put the ingredient list in my Mastercook and it will tell

me. The recipe doesn't say how many bars it makes but I'm gonna say 24 and start with that. You can tell me how many servings you think and I can just change the serving and it will recalculate. I'll put it in now...be right back.

Dang! This isn't gonna work cause it isn't recognizing all the new

fangled ingredients. LOL. Like the 1st four! And I didn't even go on to the stevia. Maybe someone has a newer version of MasterCook. Sorry.

Let me see what I can do. It's 3:20 and John is on his way home

and we're going shopping. (1 car...that's about to change!) So if I can't get this finish before he gets here I'll do it when I get back. I'll put it in using what the program has and maybe you can figure out the #. You're smarter than me. :0)

OK, here it is. Just the ingredients. I put in what was available in

the program. That's the first part. After that is the original recipe and then the nutritional amounts based on those ingredients. So maybe you can figure out how to make the adjustments for those ingredients? Does this make any sense? Again, maybe someone has a newer version of MC or another program with more up to date ingredient? Off to get the BOGO's....

I forgot to say that I made the amounts for 18 bars...18 servings.

So the nutritional amounts would be based on 18 servings.I want to make sure you understand I can't add to the program or change it.

Some of these look really yummy. I'm going to have to tackle some of them.

The chocolate almond ones especially. If any of you use the My Fitness Pal app you can plug recipes in & I haven't found a food yet that isn't in their database. It is like a terrific version of Weight Watchers online but FREE. Has a barcode scanner too which is very handy.
