You're on a desert island, with *5* cookbooks...

I'd take 3 of your 4 too Janet

Julia's "The Way To Cook"
Marcella Hazen's "Classic Italian Cooking"
my ancient copy of "The New York Times Bread and Soup Cookbook" (mine is literally falling apart)
Julia's "Mastering the Art..." (well okay, that is two books)
an old version of "The Joy of Cooking"

Do I really have to stop??? Can't I take 10?

Cathy, I have been enjoying your recipes for years...

And it seems your island is VERY well stocked smileys/smile.gif Sorry about the drought, though!

Thanks Marc- we still have some waterfalls so it isn't all that bad on the side where I live

Mine would have to be the ones I actually use or sentimental ones.

I have all the fancy ones & do read & use them from time to time but my workhorse/sentimental ones are:

My 1975 2-volume version of The Doubleday Cookbook - it has good versions of just about everything including foreign recipes. My workhorse go-to cookbook. It is becoming terribly tattered.

La Cucina de La Frontera - tough picking this one over Bayless or Diana Kennedy, but it is regional and I use it more.

Pepin's Fast Food My Way

An old Dallas Soroptimist Club cookbook my boss gave me many years ago.

The old 1950's Betty Crocker for sentimental value & for some old childhood favorites I can't duplicate anywhere else.

Just to clarify before I list mine...

ALL 5 of my Caprial Pence, 4 Cooking at the CIA and 5 Gourmet each just count as 1 right?

I'm afraid to look at anyone's choices because I might *need* to add more books to my collection smileys/smile.gif

Here's my list, but I could go on and on!

Jack Daniel's Old Time BBQ Cookbook

Cooking with Jacques and Julia

A series of Malaysian recipe soft books by Linda Quo

La Fonda De San Miguel, a cookbook from a classic Mexican restaurant in Austin that I had just purchased!

Rick Bayless' Mexican Kitchen

Farm Journal's Canning and Preserving

The Sultan's Kitchen

Pat, I have some books to pass along, if you're interested. Will PM you

with my email address in the subject line since we're having trouble sending PMs with content in the body of the note. Perhaps there are some books I have that you may be interested in.

Wait, didn't we already do this above? Okay, I'll play . . .
