ZOMG!!! MICE in my KITCHEN.

Found droppings on the counter last night. Opened up the lazy susan and found a terrible mess. Rice, grains, droppings everywhere. YUCK. My marvelous husband cleaned everything up for me--a lot of stuff had to be thrown away. He thinks he found the spot where they are likely coming into the house.

Time for some glass storage jars (any recommendations?) and some traps.

I had sucess with d-con "no view/no touch" traps baited with peanut butter.

Got rid of the pest who had taken up residence in the drawer under my oven. =smileys/surprise.gif

you also need to find out where they are coming in.

Glass or plastic is always good, but once you get rid of them, it will be fine.

If you can't seal it up with a board or some such, stick steel

wool in it. Ours got in around a hood fan one time.

Over the years I bought a lot of Crate & Barrel's octagonal glass jars

with locking lids, here are some options of their current stock.

My friend swears by the Oxo brand ones and she got hers at Costco.

We have a huge issue in SF with moths and weevils so I always use jars or cans for everything. Oh, and then there was the ant incident at my last apartment. OMG that was horrific.

My Russian friend has been buying these heavy duty restaurant supply

storage containers, the translucent ones, because she cooks so much for her church and the Russian Boy Scouts. I have a few pieces now too, so you might check out your local restaurant supply store and see what they have. Use blue painter's tape to mark what is inside. They stack well and are super durable. Great for storing the 10 gallons of borscht! LOL

They're so gorgeous, right? Want. them. all.

My sister started me on the glass jars after the ant incident. She gave me a graduated set of 6 of these, filled with treats she made. So fantastic. I just wish I had counter space for them, but they quite happily live in my pantry cupboard with the other jars and cannisters.
