it just me or isn't this offensive? I just think it seems sick at this time! I don't know, might just be me because they are sold out!!!!

Thank you Sylvia. Now this is really curious....I just went back to the link

and at the bottom, it originally said Maimed cookie cutters. It has been changed since I first posted it to say "Bitten". Hmmmm...the ad in the magazine says "Maimed".

Well, I thought of the 1,000's of our young men and women

that have had there limbs blown off. It's offensive to me!

I would have never thought of that, Orchid....

I'm sure it was meant that someone had already taken a bite. Which I think is hilarious! But - I agree, it could be offensive to some people, depending on their circumstances. But then, isn't it that way with everything in life?

My oldest daughter's 1st Christmas I baked and decorated sugar cookies and hung them on the tree. She was 10 months old and had been walking about a month. EVERY cookie on the bottom of the tree had a bite taken out of it...and we all got a huge laugh out of it! (She was the 1st grandchild on both sides) She was sooo cute!

I wonder if they sold out or removed the item?

Hugs

Yes, you're right Gayle except for two things. First, I saw it in my magazine

where they call them Maimed. That word has a very distinct meaning I think. Now, if it said ABC...Already Been Chewed, as they have now changed it in the link, it wouldn't have bothered me at all. But it is that word and it is not funny at this time in our country. OK, I'm going to go make a drink....

I would just like to clear the air

I am the proprietor of shopmodi and I would just like to clarify a few things.

We did not intend to offend anyone by carrying this product, including the men and women who have served or are currently serving in our armed forces. We ESPECIALLY did not want to offend those who have been wounded in the line of duty.

When I ordered these products from the manufacturer to be carried by our site, it reminded me more of the gingerbread character in the movie Shrek than a wounded soldier.

I think GayleMO has it right, these are supposed to be fun products. I just don't think about the cookie cutter in political terms.

The product was always called ABC we did not change it as orchid has asserted.
There was a style of the product labeled "maimed", this was the name given by the manufacturer. We will call this style "bitten" on our site from now on.

BTW, what you saw in Bon Appetit magazine wasn't advertising, it was editorial.

Well now,

You say...
"The product was always called ABC we did not change it as orchid has asserted."

As I first said, when I linked to your site at 5:07 it said Maimed. And as I also said at 6:35 it had been changed. So I guess that's why you say...
"We will call this style "bitten" on our site from now on."

So, what exactly did I "assert" that was wrong? Looks to me that you might have suddenly become aware that someone...maybe just me but I'm thinking there just might be more like me...that will feel the same.

Oh, and thanks for straightening me out that it's not advertising. I have no knowledge of putting a magazine together so now I'll know the difference when I see pages of products being highlighted. I will now understand what they are trying to get me to buy and the ones they just want me to know about. Wait...I think I'm still confused

See shopmodi....you should thank you for giving you more business.

Oh, wait...it wasn't advertising.

Speaking of our injuried soldiers at the medical facilities here in the states...I would love to

know if there's a way we can send goodies to those guys and gals too.

At least we wouldn't be limited to foods that melt, or food that isn't allowed, etc.

I have no clue myself how to even find out where to send packages or who to send packages to, etc. But it just came into mind the other day that it sure would be nice to support those wounded and still being treated medically here.

Don't think it's possible unless you have the name of a specific person. Too many

evil people in the world who "spike" food.

Wow

The name of the product has always been called "ABC Cookie Cutter". You alluded that it was changed in response to some outcry. It was not.

The style was called "maimed gingerbread men", and we changed the word from "maimed" to "bitten" once we realized it might have been seen as offensive.

Also you did say in your post at 5:35 said:
"Hmmmm...the ad in the magazine says "Maimed"."

You did call it an AD, and I just wanted to clarify that what you saw was editorial and not paid advertising.

I honestly don't know what else to say.

Gosh shopmodi...

"You alluded that it was changed in response to some outcry."

I never said anything about a response to some outcry. What I said was...

"it originally said Maimed cookie cutters. It has been changed since I first posted it to say "Bitten"."

Feeling uncomfortable shopmodi? Seems like you are trying to make me the problem.
