A couple seconds in the microwave does the same thing...

...but then they begin to taste "cooked"...OK if thet're destined for the frypan...not so good if they're going into salad dressing.

 
I have a wooden "champignon" that sits by my cutting board...

...designed for this purpose. Top of the mushroom fits right into my hand and the flat business end base is about 2 inches across. It's cute and I've had it for years... but I love the rock idea!

 
Yep, that's a pain. But i've found a couple preliminaries make it easier >>

especially if you're doing a lot. First, pull just the leaves off the stems and soak them. Then, dry well in a salad spinner and blot with paper towels. Crisp dry leaves without stems chop up really quickly.

 
Locally, there is a great little shop called Kitchen Cookery - the type of place where if you hope

something exists, you'll find it there. But, looking at the peeler itself, it's called Ben Omessi's Original e-z-rol by Selandia, Spokane WA. Google, maybe? If no luck, let me know. I'll send you one!

 
Just a little extra info on the e-z-roll

When they first came out, I had to call the company to order one. The company is The Omessi Group, Ltd. in Northridge, California, which is a company that develops products for the handicapped. The idea of the garlic peeler was that it can be used one-handed. I don't know if they make any other kitchen products, but I hope they have done well with this. It's a quick and easy way to peel garlic without crushing or boiling the clove.
