Come on gang, let's don't let this idea die... It's my favorite part of the week! My Saturday Six

even though it's Sunday now ;0)

1) Bake sale horrors - I'm vowing never again to put time and effort into baking for people I don't know

2) Stevie Wonder concert Friday night - WONDERful

3) Birthday party postponed until after all are in town and healthy - next weekend?

4) Wore myself thin the first half of the weekend - it's amazing what you can do on 3 hours of sleep. Sister's family has the swine flu (they were tested and confirmed because her husband sees patients and they wanted to make sure what it was) so I need to sleep and drink plenty of oj now

5) Not baking

6) Sunday = sleep

My Sunday Six

1. Had a wonderful dinner last night, Laarb, Coconut Cilantro Rice, Asian slaw, and Lazy Woman Spicy Tuna and Lazy Woman Spicy California rolls, which were huge hits, thank you CathyZ and Sandi in Hawaii!

2. Quiet day here today and I need one.

3. Actually, I just remembered we are doing the teacher's hospitality meals tomorrow because of conferences.

4. I have to come up with a recipe for some kind of wrap for tomorrow, so a little recipe research is in order.

5. We had a nice sunny day yesterday for the first time in a long time. The farmers need some nice dry weather very badly.

6. Leftover sushi for lunch today, yippee!

My Sunday Six

1. Finish grouting the tile in the new bathroom.

2. Get a good jog in, early.

3. Marinate the pork loin for grilling tonight.

4. Get my "to try" list ready for Christmas baking and begin my test runs on cookies.

5. Plug that doggone snake hole near the mesquite in the front yard so I can water it.

Exciting stuff!

Michael

Sunday Six

Took a short trip to see my dad in NE MO. Way too many fried foods including those great Midwestern breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches. I love 'em. I also really enjoyed the fall foliage.

The highlight of my trip (except seeing my dad of course) was stopping in St. Louis for a Penzeys run and not one, but two Trader Joe's. I couldn't buy frozen or refrigerated foods but bought some shelf items including white balsamic vinegar which I've never seen in a store before. My suspicion is the Midwest Trader Joe's are much smaller and more limited selection than the west coast stores.

Made the fresh produce run yesterday and my favorite local farm market had their locally grown fresh kale for the first time this season. I have cannellini beans soaking to make CI's Tuscan Bean Stew which has kale in it. I've wanted to make it since it was in the magazine in March 2008 but couldn't find the dried cannellini beans until recently, then kale was out of season.

I'm wondering if I'll ever get caught up on what was posted while I was gone. Why is it you get so prolific whilst I'm away? And my Google Reader has over 400 posts from food blogs. It's going to be a long day. I'm too O/C to just delete them.

Received my last Gourmet magazine yesterday. No word in it of the impending suspension of publication and there are cards to renew or give gift subscriptions inside. It must have been a sudden decision.

I missed everyone while I was gone. It's good to be back.

Sunday Six

1. Look for camera
2. Go to church
3. Wash van
4. Ride motorcycle
5. Wash clothes
6. Eat chocolate pie

Weekend Six (I like to be different, LOL)

1. Load up on pizza from Rocky's and see Zombieland at the drive-in. (we had a 42 year old drive in virgin with us...he was scared to death to 'sneak in' pizza!!!)

2. For the third week the grocery list slashed so that I am forced to use up pantry items. (Still can't bring myself to use the canned cherry pie filling, tho. That's going in the food box)

3. Special fish diet for dog with high liver values and regular goulash for other dog.

4. Pasta salad and chicken marinating for the bbq at the dog testing. (Only 3 more weeks to go after this!)

5. Stop at Starbucks for her first Puppy Whip for Jinkies after her training class. (Smoothie for me since I don't like coffee) She LOVED it.

6. Search for the darn lid for my old crockpot someone wants to borrow. Where the heck did that lid go?????

I have to ask... what do you mean by

"the grocery list slashed" - cutting back on your budget you mean?

My Sunday Six

1. Gosh, Dawn, stay well! Sending anti-flu thoughts your way...

2. Cheezz sent some wonderful Herbes de Provence, which made the best roasted potatoes for Sunday lunch... smileys/smile.gif

3. My lunch options near work are dismal--except for a fantastic falafel place.

4. I bought some bowls last week because they reminded me of bowls I used to drink cafe au lait from, every morning in Paris in my host family's tiny kitchen. So now I get a 20-min vacation/nostalgia rush before going off to work. smileys/smile.gif

5. Contemplating what to do for Thanksgiving...

6. Am in a weekend breakfast rut of toast and jam. Utterly boring, even with good jam... Please send ideas. smileys/smile.gif

Seriously, some days I look at Google and there are 500+ items. Speed scrolling is an art. smileys/wink.gif
