DawnMO??? You okay? Freezing rain just started here about 20 mins ago...

I've been watching the news, stay in and stay safe. cookies sound like a great

way to pass the time. I can just imagine dozens and dozens of cookies on your counters before this is over smileys/smile.gif

These are little plastic on metal frame guys. 60" x 40" x 35" high. Most herbs survive just

fine in them all winter. There's a zipper that opens the top and it works well if it's not wet. I open it on warm days.

I paid all of $15 each for them on sale at a major local hardware store. They are so hard to find, even online, that I was ecstatic. This really helpful fellow recognized how pleased I was and went to the basement to rummage around for me, without even being asked. I bought 2, have an old one and then have a few of the umbrella types on my indvidiual chives.

For me, these are the best kind so that I don't have to look at them all summer. They just pack away until November.

wow Dawn, unbelievable out there! glad you still have power. your cardinals are beautiful, they

must be so greatfull for the bird feeders right now!

stay snugged and safe

There is an awesome beauty to this though, isn't there. What a thing said by someone who hates

winter. We are expecting these storms here shortly.

Does your little girl eat from your fingers? I trained one last year to take peanuts.

No, I wish. How did you train him to do that?

I have two pair that stick around. One in particular has a sticky-out feather that makes him very identifiable. I have another feeder out in the yard and I get tons of birds in the winter.
I would like to try and train them. The wind is picking up, which is not a good thing up on this hill.

Her, actually...

he just would not come close enough. I got them to land on my footstool. Then put my legs onto it, then leaned over and put my hand on the footstool about 1 foot away.

Then I just got closer each day and eventually, with patience, she just hopped down and took it out of my fingers. She was easily identifiable as well as she had only one eye. That meant that when she was to jump down, I had to put the peanut where it would allow her to still see me.

But shortly after, they both disappeared...and they had been around for 2 years.

I used to have blue jays swoop down and take sunflower seeds from between my fingers. They sure have phenomenal sight.

I was wondering about you! Thanks for reporting.

We're hanging tight for another round here. *sigh The temps have dropped and it's raining so I'd say by morning our trees will be covered, again. Sure was nice to see the bare branches today!

Your pictures look so familiar! It is so beautiful but so damaging.

I did bake all my spritz cookies today. Had a triple batch of Mimi's Whipped Shortbread and a triple of a cream cheese spritz. Mimi's is much the better, BTW! (I just HAD to try the cream cheese..haha)

Then, I made up a triple batch of the Cranberry Almond cookies from here. Forgot at the moment who posted them but they are really, really good! I have a big part of that dough in the fridge to bake tomorrow. I'm also making biscotti tomorrow and dipping my coconut pecan balls and the gingerbread biscotti.

I'm off to shower and heading to bed!

Niters! Keep warm and be blessed.
