Does the size of a cookbook impact your enjoyment of it? I just got a 4+ pound book and my first

China

Yep. Leaving for a few days in Bangkok and have a couple of day classes lined up there, then flying to a Chengdu for a two-week intensive sichuan cooking immersion. Can't wait.

I'll be posting the kung pao chicken recipe on the blog and here this weekend, as it's our pre-trip homework assignment, but the woman behind the program has asked that I not share any other recipes without permission. I'll see what I'm allowed to do in that regard, though.

No problemo. Seriously. So tricky sussing attittude here when it's just typed out. I was mostly

concerned I'd offended YOU somehow. Okay, we're all better now. Let the volley resume!

(Incidentally, you'll get YOURS Orchid . . . and your little dog too!)

You know, Steve...

If you'd start using that special pump I brought you as a hostess gift, you wouldn't look like it's just jell-o surprise in your basket.

Marc, that was so eloquently written. It is me! I LOVE my cookbooks and hate to have to ever

depart with them. The irony is that I get most of my "weeknight cooking recipes" from here or a link. BUT, I love my cookbooks for inspiration, ideas, etc...

Somehow, I find it peaceful to sleep next to a pile on my night table.

I HAVE to have one in the car so I can peruse when I am stuck somewhere in the car.

When I am not cooking, I love to think about what to cook next.

While I love the net, I love my cookbooks! They are everywhere!

LOVE THIS

Yes. Yes. A thousand times Yes.

Do you have an iPad? It offers even more immediate gratification when you need one and need it in the moment. There are also some cool author-published books made exclusively for it.

I'm just here to help enable you to be more of a cookbook hoarder, people. It's my superpower. Maybe I need a 12-step program smileys/smile.gif

Good ideas. More places to keep them for access. Isn't there some tactile satisfaction that

comes with a cookbook over an iPad though Marc? I can ask that since I refuse to get an iPad,,,,,,so far.

I mentioned before that once I finally got a bookshelf to unload all my cookbooks, I finally felt as though I had moved. It's a bit disconcerting, however, that they had to go into my bedroom.

I totally agree, Marc - and I use that same "3 hit" approach when looking at a purchase

I learned that here from someone... you or someone else, I can't remember.

I do have to complain about big huge ginormous ones though, because my very most favoritist place to read cookbooks is in the bathtub, and it's too hard to hold them up for any length of time while in the tub.

Doesn't stop me from buying them though!
