Favorite "alternate use" for a kitchen tool?

Other way around - love my rubber mallet in my kitchen

helps when trying to cut through or split things like hard squash, melons, bones. Great for pounding on things.

I had a brutal day at work and I'm exhausted. I need to go to bed but how

can I possibly do that without knowing what a bo is? ;0)

I use a square hard-plastic spatula to stir my pasta when I boil it on the stovetop........

The flat edge fits flush against the bottom of
the pot, and it's easy to scrape any stuck pasta
off the bottom as it's cooking, so there's no
major scrubbing when it's time to clean up.

Crushing and pitting olives with a can of tuna and using a butter knife when I can't find a

screwdriver. I have many bent butter knives.

Sorry, didn't mean to creat suspsense. It's also called a staff

The long stick they use in Karate. The size is dependent upon your height, so as he grew he had to have a longer one. I cut up his first one and have it for my rolling pin. Perfect.

Fun thread! This doesn't quite fit the category, but I used DH's rasp for zesting.

Also, I use surgical gloves for working with meat marinated in curry (the curry stains my skin for days).
