Freezer Emergency. . . any suggestions!?

Hey all, looks like now, in the midst of the long-awaited summer heat-wave, our upright freezer is about to bite the dust. I should say, our jammed-to-the-gills-with-still-frozen-food upright freezer.

We've been using a Tappan 20 cubic (or so) for the past 15 years but. . . well, it's 15 years-old. So. . . anyone have any suggestions or insight into what I should buy in say, the next 48 hours?

Thanks!

we have a Kenmore from Sears that has been very reliable and not to pricey. you have to

take everything out to defrost but that dosen't happen but once a year. it's great and keeps everything frozen perfectly.

I agree, I have a Kenmore upright and have had it for years, and

it has been very reliable. If I had to buy a new one today, I would definitely buy a Kenmore.
They are also so much more energy efficient now.

we have the upright too and it's been a dream for 6 yrs now. surprisingly enough,

I only have to defrost once a year.

Wow, that's great, is it a new feature? I have to defrost every 3-4 months, but it's worth it in

the quality of the frozen product, at least I hope so! I just went through the ordeal this week. Luckily, I have a refrig/freezer beside it in the garage and lots of styrofoam coolers. Aha, in the garage, that's probably why I have to defrost so often, hot and humid there. Is yours inside?

it's probably because I'm not in & out of it daily. if I opened the door more often

I would probably have to defrost every few months like you do.
