Harry Potter Mania watch out, Julia Mania has taken over

That's probably what would happen to me if I ever apeared on the show....smileys/bigsmile.gif

I have a different take. I thought Julie Powell was very self-effacing in her book, and quite blunt

about her own flaws. I liked it, and I wish the film had not sweetened up the character so much. It would have been a better contrast, to me, if Julie were portrayed in her crasser, more foulmouthed moments, to show how different the two women were.

Otherwise, I absolutely loved the film. The recreation of Julia's Paris was perfect, even referencing many of Paul's iconic photos in the live action and filming in the exact apartment. The attention to detail was amazing, and what can I say about Meryl that hasn't already been said? How about the scenes with Julia's sister!

I agree with your thoughts about Julie.

I think Amy Adams came across as quite whiny, and it would have played better if she'd been saltier, both in language and attitude. But I still liked the film--all that butter!

More about Julie -

Honestly - she was the reason I did not want to see this film. I had read some of her blog while she was writing it, and I found her very distasteful.

I'm not surprised Julia felt the way she did about her.

I'm glad they "sweetened" her up in the movie.

I loved her husband, though - except when he was eating.....ick!
