Help! I scored an invite to Diner en Blanc....aka fancy flash mob dinner. What would you make?

Geez they are all over the place. There was one here, too. I'll bet there will be lots of

pastas in blanc.

Scallop seviche.

This is fun. What course has been allocated to you?

Veal or Chickn Tonnato comes to mind.

POLLO TONNATO (CHICKEN IN TUNA SAUCE)

Chicken

3 lb boneless chicken breasts
1 carrot, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 onion, sliced
2 cups dry white wine

In saucepan, bring 2/3 c water to boil. Add chicken breasts and other ingredients. Cover and reduce heat. Simmer until chicken is tender about 10 - 15 minutes. Transfer meat and broth to bowl and cover. Cool 3 to 4 hours or overnight in fridge.

Slice chicken. Spread some sauce on bottom of platter. Arrange chicken slices on top.
Cover with remaining sauce and refrigerate. Garnish with sliced lemons, capers
and chopped parsley.

Tuna Sauce

In blender or processor until fine paste......If too thick add broth:

1 7 oz tin tuna in olive oil
4 anchovy fillets
3 tbsps. capers
Juice 1 lemon
3/4 cup Olive oil

Add 1 1/2 c mayonnaise

NOTE: Use broth to make soup.

I'm going this year too! It's really fun, people go over the top with decor.

Some of the more fabulous meals I have seen served (and trust me by saying served, people hire caterers for Diner en Blanc, which I think is totally cheating), include a side of cold salmon with cucumber scales (I want to do that this year), blini with caviar, towering tiers of cheeses and fruits and pates (we did that last year), one group did beef wellington (the pastry is sort of white). Last year we did another multicultural buffet of kutlyeti (chicken patties fried in butter and served warm), buckwheat salad, an Indian eggplant dish, Japanese mushrooms and onigiri and I forget what else.

Champagne is a must.

I rebel and always bring a chocolate cake from a bakery filled with chocolate curls on top or dipped strawberries on a cake stand people gasp when they see it. I have a lovely Block demitasse service in white and bring lots of espresso because it gets really cold at night in September!

Hope you have fun Traca! Love the wig and you need a fascinator to be sure. I'm looking for a boa because not only is it fun but they are warm.

I have wanted to do one here as a fund raiser for an

organization. I even have the perfect place to have it if it ever gets done. They look SO much fun--and beautiful.
Take a look online for the ones in Paris--of course, that backdrop--either the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame--does have some cachet all its own.
Have fun. I don't think the meal has to be white, does it!!
I'd find some foie gras, for sure.
