Here's a challenge for you: a pot-luck main dish (feeds 8) for

And if you bump up from $10 to $15-ish you could make a nice entree for 8. Might not be $10

but it's not $40 or $60 either.

Why don't you go meatless. Lots of Italian is great meatless. Just

make sure it's really seasoned well. Like Spinach Lasagna. A good 80/20 ground beef has always been what I used in lean money times. I can stretch 1# of ground beef a loooong way and not feel deprived of good food. And since you do this thing every month start watching for good sales on meat and then freeze it. Winn Dixie has really good meat and has great BOGO a lot. I just got chicken legs and thighs for .59# so I bout 10# and broke it down for the two of us and froze. Legs and thighs have the most flavor I think. I watch sales like a hawk and I can let you know when there is a really good buy if you would like.

Could you propose ending the gift card/game component? It doesn't seem fair that you spend money &

put in the effort to cook. It's the gift cards that are throwing things out of whack. You should be able to partner up with someone who wants to pay $10 and have them give it to you for groceries! I think there's enough hooplah around the food, do you really need games and such too? My old office used to do potlucks frequently and frankly, they were a huge distraction. Fun, but still. The game component adds to the madness.

I could not agree more! I got hung up on the games and gift

cards. So why not come, pay $10.00, have some fun playing games, possibly win a gift card and eat a fantastic meal. What's not to like?
