Hey everyone, thanks so much for the San Diego tips. Hillcrest is a great neighborhood. Up and coming, but we found plenty to entertain us. I dropped in at Eclipse Chocolate just down from our rental and met the owner. Super nice guy. My friend Crescent discovered a Georgian/Russian restaurant just down the street that's faboulous! And I *drooled* over the desserts at Extraordinary Desserts...That place makes some serious showstoppers! And the ones I had...tasted as good as they looked. Amazing.
Writing workshop with Crescent Dragonwagon exceeded my expectations. We had a small group and a mix of lectures/writing exercises outside on the patio of the house she rented. Lovely space. Perfect set up. She asked everyone not reveal anything more about ourselves initially other than name & city we lived in. Good thing 'cause it's a little vulnerable touching base with that artist side and stuff. At the end of the session this woman approached me. "What's the name of your blog?" I told her. Turns out, she lives in Palmer, Alaska and has been a long time reader. Yowza!
The blogger conference also exceeded my expectations. I actually got a chance to see Ruth Reichl speak twice and it was different each time. Met so many people that are just amazing. I spent most of the weekend picking my jaw up off the floor! One woman introduced her self and I kept thinking, that name sounds so familiar. Why? I went to leave and actually had her book in the back seat of my car! So crazy...
I've got one day to get my act together...before I jump in on a 3 day travel writing seminar.
Summer in Seattle...Feeling like a whirling dervish? Check!
