Hey everyone, thanks so much for the San Diego tips. Hillcrest is a great neighborhood. Up and coming, but we found plenty to entertain us. I dropped in at Eclipse Chocolate just down from our rental and met the owner. Super nice guy. My friend Crescent discovered a Georgian/Russian restaurant just down the street that's faboulous! And I *drooled* over the desserts at Extraordinary Desserts...That place makes some serious showstoppers! And the ones I had...tasted as good as they looked. Amazing.

Writing workshop with Crescent Dragonwagon exceeded my expectations. We had a small group and a mix of lectures/writing exercises outside on the patio of the house she rented. Lovely space. Perfect set up. She asked everyone not reveal anything more about ourselves initially other than name & city we lived in. Good thing 'cause it's a little vulnerable touching base with that artist side and stuff. At the end of the session this woman approached me. "What's the name of your blog?" I told her. Turns out, she lives in Palmer, Alaska and has been a long time reader. Yowza!

The blogger conference also exceeded my expectations. I actually got a chance to see Ruth Reichl speak twice and it was different each time. Met so many people that are just amazing. I spent most of the weekend picking my jaw up off the floor! One woman introduced her self and I kept thinking, that name sounds so familiar. Why? I went to leave and actually had her book in the back seat of my car! So crazy...

I've got one day to get my act together...before I jump in on a 3 day travel writing seminar.

Summer in Seattle...Feeling like a whirling dervish? Check!

Whirlwind is right, what fun!! Breathe in, breathe out, and go again, thanks for sharing!!

wow Traca, you are a busy bee! If I lived that close to a good chocolate shop

I would never be home! LOL

Hope to read more about all of this excitement! What did you serve your houseguests last week?

Fortunately most of the food was taken care of at the events, but I had nibbles on hand. Served

Champagne with Lime Basil Sorbet, a nice array of cheese & charcuterie, and these fabulous roasted nut mix by Salish or Sahalee....My friend Nicole brought a loaf of chocolate chip banana bread and burnt caramel almonds from SF. So we were heavy on the wine & champagne, food was of the nibble variety. Never got around to making the fire-roasted salsa. Bummer...

I really want to try that lime basil sorbet sometime! Did you see the grilling issue of Food & Wine

They did a page on sauces where you grill sauce ingredients on a kabob then purée (with other items). Yummy looking! Makes me long for briquettes!
