So you're happy with the Soda Stream?

I purchased a high end soda siphon from Williams Sonoma and it promptly broke. They replaced it and the next one broke. I finally gave up. Would love to have a properly functioning fizzy water machine.

That's exactly the one I had from Williams and Sonoma and it was...

a piece of crap.

I wanted to channel my inner William Powell and Myrna Loy and have a smart soda siphon on the bar. The mechanism to insert the co2 cartridge is seriously flawed. After so many uses and oxidation of the metal threads (after not very much time), it is impossible to screw them in to release their contents into the bottle. We were finally using vice grips trying to turn the damned things into position before we gave up. This happened on every one we tried like this and we just gave up.

seltzer water with a bit of fruit juice is just wonderful and not too sweet. the lemonade/iced tea

combo is also a favorite for me---cuts the sweetness as well.

They don't mention anything about charging it...

the attachments to do that might be missing and you would just have a pretty bottle to sit on a shelf.

I agree. I like a bit of cranberry juice with club soda & lots of lime.

You can buy the reduced calorie cranberry juice to reduce the amount of sugar.

Another vote for the sodastream....

We drink a lot of water since we got it 3 years ago - it is our favorite kitchen "gadget" apart from the coffee maker smileys/wink.gif My husband likes to add a splash of juice, but I like mine just pure water, double filtered. I don't buy any bottled water nor drink it from the faucet. You cannot beat the taste of good, filtered water, and once you pass it through the Sodastream, it leaves any Perrier on a smoke smileys/wink.gif

I would stay away from anything with artificial sweeteners - your liver doesn't need the extra burden to deal with it.

((((Amanda)))) Are you close to Trader Joe's? I like their unsweetened juices -

the cherry and cranberry are nice mixed with seltzer water.

Mixers with water: mint/lime/lemon/orange/watermelon/herbs/etc

I just do a slice or squeeze because fruit juice is pretty much all sugar and will spike your insulin levels - which your trying to stay away from. I'd experiment with mottling things like one does with a mojito, but I'd want to stick with organic - especially now with your health; more nutrients/no chemicals. Oh and fresh coconut water mentioned above is seriously good for you. (Link o how to open a thai coconut)

Limes in water is my recent fav, I can't get enough of.

Also, different kinds of water. I get steam distilled from the water store, but I have a fondness for Hawaii Water and NYC water because they taste so different.

(((Sending healing vibes your way)))

Iced green tea with jasmine - delicious! The Steeping Room in Austin has a blend of oolong which is

wonderful -- three blossom oolong. I love it iced. No sweetener needed, it has a hint of rose flavor. If you can get the clear ice cubes -- I don't know why, but I just love a tall glass of sparkling water (soda stream, wish I had one) over that clear ice with just a little squeeze of fresh lime. I could drink a gallon of that a day.

Feel better, Amanda!!
