ISO: ISO drink recommendations

In Search Of:
I had heard that quinine could be good for the "hot flashes", so I stocked up on tonic and limes.

without gin it's not as fun, nor am I, but it's a wiser choice for midweek beverage. it still tastes like "hot summer day on the lanai" to me.

Sally, I'm with you. The carbonated water is what I was after. I threw out the extra flavor packs.

Thanks, all! So many good options here that will definitely get me through summer.

I'd totally forgotten about agua frescas and using iced tea to cut lemonade. I'm not very creative about drinks so this really helps a lot. I'm printing everything and hanging it on the fridge so I'll always have the recipes handy. Thanks again!

Thanks, Traca. I know what Bub is getting for Father's Day. I think he will love it.

It looks like the carbonators are available at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. Where do you get yours, and can you post some recipes? Thanks!

do not carbonate anything other than water

Learn from my mistake. I tried to carbonate wine and ended up with a huge mess and a carbonator that didn't work as well for quite a while.

It gets 175 uses before you need a carbonator, and I haven't used mine up yet. I would

recommend purchasing extra bottles. The one I got for Christmas has just one bottle. I typically keep a bottle of chilled tap water (we have great water here) in the fridge, then carbonate when I want to drink it. Would be nice to have some extra bottles as back up.

My friend runs the blog Former Chef and she has a few recipes developed for her soda stream. I've linked to that...see just above your comment.

Personally, I'm thrilled with just the straight bubbles. I'd be a Perrier girl if it wasn't so expensive. This solves that problem.

Hi Lisa. Our Trader Joe's is under construction!

However, we have a Wegman's so I will look there for unsweetened juices; I know they have selzer. I do like fruity, fizzy drinks.

I sometimes use a product called TrueLemon in my water--they also make other citrus flavored packets

like lime & orange. Good luck with your chemotherapy. I did six months of chemo back in 1993 for colon cancer so I know exactly what you're into. I also sucked on tons of ice chips which soothed my thirst and also helped numb some of the mouth tenderness my particular chemo drugs caused. I'll be saying prayers for you!
