ISO: ISO: Well, here we go. We'll be doing some real lifestyle changes in this house.

Avocados are the good fat and they are full of vitamins, I've read....

instead of butter on my toast, I take an avocado wedge, place it on the toasted bread, coarsely mash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and freshly gr. pepper. Heaven!

Thanks Ang, I am in my 58th year and am soooo overly busy with long hours......

like never before. I am in the same job as the one I resigned from and 3 weeks later was asked to join as a freelancer doing incentive groups for a well known DMC. I LOVE what I do even when some of the tour operators (like the last group) is the worst kind of phlegm in existence, however I rolled straight into this group which is just the best group one could wish for. I have spent the last month doing 5 days of 18 hours and a few of 14 and 15 hour days. It is unbelievable how one is expected to be on call. I have lost a little weight, which is a good thing but I am eating on the run all bad things!!!
The food that is served to these groups is just unbelievable and I, of course, can't accept a bite.
I am so entranced at watching the plating, serving and choice of menus for these events.
We have had Villa dinners (with a fireworks ending and a begining of the 2 bands that blew the electricity that made the incentive group have appoplexi and food that was rained upon) to restaurant dinners where a guest slipped and fell into the chocolate "To Die For" dessert and other boring events that aren't worth mentioning.
I am usually so exhausted that I only lurk at 4 am or when ever I need to catch up on paper work.
The season is slowing now so I hope the planned day at the beach with my family and the sexy bronze Frenchman twirling the wine glass in iced water materializes but I have my doubts.
Still next weekend I may just start cooking again.
There are so many recipes I'd like to try from the last few weeks here at FK.
Anyway Hugs
J

We eat avo almost every meal and interestingly one of my mnasy nieces was born premmy....

in England some 28 years ago. The food that was suggested to my sister to feed this wee, wee tot first was mashed avo. Came the time she was to start on solids that is what she was given. It is a whole food and along with coconut water one of the healthiest foods one can ever eat!
My avo tree this year has the msot avos ever (in three years) I counted about 30 some fruit developing...Hurrah!

The best thing I ever did was learn to de-stress myself...

I was NEVER able to lose weight and relax until I learned self-hypnosis. Now I can sit for a couple of minutes, deep breathe, and just feel my shoulders drop a few inches. Stress makes you over-eat, and causes your body is hold fat -- never knew that until I started learning this. Makes me feel SO much better.

Michael, you're our hero! I've seen the wedding photo, and I'll look forward to

the wiser, wedding-weight picture. I promise not to talk about carnitas until you've reached your goal.

That's OK Joe! Talk, talk, talk. I'm living somewhat vicariously through all of you fine folks.

The string on the coffee cake was tough though, and I might make one for my family tomorrow.

When I'm in a weight loss "groove", I find it perfectly satisfying to have a small piece of something decadent and let others enjoy the rest of it. Now, I'm not a masochist about it, so I don't fill the weekly table with sweets and barbequed hamburgers, but I have purposely developed the discipline not to go overboard. I hope this skill will come in handy when I reach my ultimate wedding-photo goal.

Thanks for the kind words,

Michael

I've never heard of that connection, but it makes sense to think about it. Our bodies still...

...hold calories (as fat) in reserve for times of perceived "famine". Stress would naturally preceed and permeate a period of food shortage, so it would seem natural for our bodies to hoard calories when stressed.

The Native American tribes here have been studied regarding the incidence of type II diabetes and severe obesity, and a link to their past as farmers and gatherers has been proposed. They have a gene that gives them the ability to store excess calories for the "lean times", and that contributes heavily to their diabetes and weight issues. Interesting.

Woo Hoo! It worked. This is from Disneyland, a month ago, so I still had...

...some weight on that isn't there now.

Plus, of course, I still have 20 to 25 to go.

Michael
