I've been having a major thyroid problem since March. To lose the weight I've been eating one lean cuisine, a green salad and a cup of steamed veggies every day. Lean Cuisine is loaded with salt and doesn't taste very good but I'm bad with portion sizes. I thought if I went by weight it would be easier.

Please don't yell at me for eating such a crappy diet. My clothes don't fit, I'm depressed, and I saw my endocrinologist yesterday and he's aware of what I'm eating.

Thanks

Thought I better clarify...I'm not depressed...just sad. He said bread, rice, pasta and

potatoes are for people who want to maintain their weight!

Right there with you missy...my cholesterol has jumped up to 252** and now I'm battling

my doctor to stay off meds. Her only concession: lose weight, exercise and get the numbers down or I will have to deal with her wrath.

(** Not that high but I have a family history of death due to clogged arteries)

Statins are not for everyone. I've taken two different ones and both caused

severe muscle weakness. My doctor then told me that a great many of her patients couldn't tolerate statins for the same reason.

It's horrible. The other day I was reading and it felt like bugs were crawling on my neck and

shoulders. Turned out to be strands of my hair falling out. Also put me into A-fib so I'm on blood thinners, too. Dr. said it could take up to 1 1/2 years to regulate.

And DH cut out beer for 2 days and lost 5 pounds
Told him with the mind frame I'm in he better sleep with one eye open ; )

Our son began a sort of VB6 "diet"--which is what Mark Bittmann

has done. You can google it. It stands for "vegan before 6". DS has lost about 30+ pounds. The major thing about it is to cut down on meat and up the veggies.
He eats oatmeal with fruit even when we go to Panera Bread for breakfast!! but it is a beautiful bowlful there.
The "deck of cards" portion is a pretty good one. If you measure a half cup of veggie, it sort of looks like a deck amount. Really pretty good for meat--unfortunately. I like my meats too much!!

I'm not the expert, but most people make dieting too complicated

it should be a life style change and keep it simple. Avoid, mayo, large amounts of salt, no sodas, processed foods, and too much cheese. Eat a plant based diet and now is the time to enjoy it with all the fresh, garden produce available. Eat everything fresh, fish, chicken, pork tenderloin, very Little beef and keep your portions to 4 ounces or less. Lots of fresh green veggies. Make soups with no fat, except olive oil, add lots of fresh herbs, spices, and veggies. Cabbage is a good filler and very tasty. So good and you can have it in the fridge at all times. Go for lots of walks, take your dog along if you have one. Go with a friend , too. Park at the far end of the grocery store lot, a great way to get in those extra steps.
I lost a lot of weight years ago doing just this, and my secret was - I told no one. I did not want folks asking me everyday how I was doing. After about 22 lbs, they began to notice.....I simply told people I made a lifestyle change by walking and eating healthy foods. Nothing more was said. When they ask how much weight you have lost, say "enough for right now". Someone told me this to avoid those who say, "well, how much more do you want to lose, or you look sick".
I also stayed away from all types of chips....eat cucumbers and carrots slices instead. It fills you up and keeps you healthy.Do it for you!

Also good to know: If you don't eat enough, you will find it hard to lose weight. . . .

A person's body can go into something like "starvation" mode and will become incredibly efficient at saving every calorie. Been there, done that.

Yes, that is how I gain weight. If I stop eating 3 meals a day, I gain. I miss breakfast

because of not sleeping at night and thus gain because I'm not sleeping.

Cyn, I've lost all my eyebrows. MAC is the only makeup that works to draw fake ones.

For me at least. My skin breaks out and gets red from most makeup.

(Gee... I guess I should have put NFRC in front, huh.)

Have you tried that Smart Lash stuff?

it really helps my eyelashes be thicker, and they advertise it's good for eyebrows too.
