Sitting here thinking:

- Making a 2-layer yellow cake with whipped cream filling and topped with strawberries for tomorrow

- Also making the copper penny carrots for tomorrow / hope it doesn't rain for the party

- Isn't strawberry-picking season here yet?!

- I really have to plant those heirloom tomato seeds soon!

- I will probably never use chili paste again

- Can't help but wonder how the little squirrel is doing!

My Saturday Six starts with watching where I use the word couscous

because I found out what it means in Arabic from my Sudanese students today when I taught them Five Ingredient Chicken with Curried Apple Couscous
2) Need to weed the garden if it ever stops raining - everything coming up nicely
3) BBQ chicken nachos for supper with 'twisted timbers' to drink
4) Stopped in Oriental market and bought some stuff & she gave me new 'recipe' for chicken soup with dill and lemongrass
5) Dying to know what all those herbs, greens or whatever are in the Oriental market - I need someone to go with me and translate
6) New sausage from Costco is awesome - made by Homestyle called Souther Style Smoked Sausage. Cold smoked fresh sausage comes in a package of about six foot longish links. VERY good flavor - even daughter said something without knowing I had switched.

My Saturday Six starts with trying not to do a typo typing My Saturday Six

Figuring what to cook along with the wild salmon & dill burgers for dinner

Getting the snow tires off of the car

Putting together a goody basket for sister's birthday

Restringing the tennis racquet

Get ready for the big wedding this week--caviar, oysters and lots of Champagnes in my future

My Saturday six....

I am exhausted from planting all the tomatoes

You will all hear my scream live if a bunny/gopher et all eats them (You don't want to hear it...Will rupture ear drums)

Entertaining for 15 tomorrow...I made the Copper Penny Carrots Michael posted...I added hot pepper flakes. Looks wonderful!

Will be making Charlie's rec: Claramont Salad; although I somehow can not find my slicing blade for the KA. Dressing is made.

What do I do for a tablecloth??

Will these alergies ever end?????

I think that is six......

My Saturday Six

~ Coffee!

~ Waffles!

~ Bacon!

~ None of my seeds I ordered - 10 types heirloom tomato, brussels sprouts, and two kinds of carrots seeds - have sprouted. Tried 2xs, doing the same method I have every year. Not one single sprout! Also planted sunflowers and zinnias from the packets at Home Depot - they are growing like weeds. Very mysterious!

~ What to make for dinner with my refrigerator in the 10th day of being on the fritz.

~ I would like some sort of icy cold cocktail at some point today. smileys/smile.gif

re: the tablecloth. A nice bedsheet is good. Can get one at the sale table that has no match >>>

for a low cost.

My saturday six....

Return the Cuisinart "Mix it In" soft serve maker we bought to make our version of Pinkberry!

Make the gooey graham bars for tomorrow's Mother's Day picnic!

Make a trip to Yogurt Planet for my "fix" of yogurt, mangoes and mochies. (Austin is 2 years behind California in it's yearning for frozen soft serve yogurt)

Research pick your own farms for strawberries and blueberries in the area. Blackberries too!!

Four is six at 90 degrees and 100% humidity!!!

My Saturday Six

All of my six this Saturday involved 6 bowls (at least) and 6 hours (maybe not quite that many) making a Strawberry-Mousse Cake with White Chocolate Ganache. Oy!

Tomorrow we are hosting a birthday lunch for a friend. The cake is the most difficult and time consuming effort for the repast. It better be good or you will hear this god awful scream sometime mid afternoon.

My Saturday six

- I just returned home from a family party and I regret not having another piece of the cheesecake because it was really good!
- I bought fresh strawberries today for tomorrows breakfast. Can't wait to eat them. Yum!
- I found a recipe today for Minted pea soup. I hope it will taste as good as it sounds.
- I forgot to buy dark chocolate today. One whole weekend without dark chocolate. That is a first! smileys/smile.gif
- Did you know they sell bite size Oreo cookies at my local grocery store now? This will be my downfall.
- I'm wondering what couscous means in Arabic now...

I googled it because I didn't know either - it means "to pulverize"

(as in pound into little pieces)

My Saturday Six

Must try the Warsteiner pilsner a friend gave us today. Hope it's good cuz there's a whole case.

Not completely happy with the Greek Pasta Salad I made today for a party. Need to compare the recipe with others online to see how I can make it differently.

Pick up dried mango at Trader Joes to try the Quinoa Salad with Mango, Almonds and Curry Vinaigrette a friend recommended.

Buy more broccoli to make another batch of Panera Broccoli Cheese soup that turned out well earlier this week. Was thrilled the neighbors loved it too.

Picked up Lasagna Gardening book at library today. Excited about possibly trying to grow vegetables that way, maybe herbs too.

Need to pull together menus for a 5-day getaway to Yosemite National Park in the motorhome this week. Thinking too about picnic-type foods to have lunch near the falls and on long hikes.

Lisa, I'd be going banana's on not having a fridge for so long!

Borrow some ice from a neighbor and make a dark and stormy with some of that Gosling's Black Seal Rum. Tall glass, shot of rum, fill with ginger beer and a squeeze of lime.
Then call for a pizza delivery!

Oooh, your trip to Yosemite sounds great! If you have it handy, could you pls post the

recipe for Panera's Broccoli Cheese soup? It sounds very good. Does it have beer in it?

Is the salad something like this one?--REC: Greek Pasta Salad...

Greek Pasta Salad

2 cups small shell pasta -- or bowties
1 cup cherry tomatoes -- halved
1/2 cup cucumber -- chopped
1/2 cup pitted black olives -- sliced (kalamata)
1/2 cup feta cheese
1/4 cup red onion -- chopped
1/4 cup green onion -- sliced

2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 clove minced garlic
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon fresh parsley -- chopped (or more)

Combine all veggies in bowl. In separated bowl make vinegrette.

Cook pasta, drain & cool and add to veggies and vinegrette mixing gently so not to break the pasta. Chill for a while so flavours can blend.
