My Saturday Six (with any luck I'll get it all done today)

I think (although from the linked article, I'm a little confused now) that Pelargonium is the genus

of common geraniums. So you're basically right, Eva, although the petals?/leaves from the flowers in the genus Pelargonium are the common, bitter ones.

After reading it again, I see Geranium is the genus of the scented ones and include the ones which are sometimes used in cooking. Pelargonium is the genus of the common (think red ones you see in gardens) ones. I'm not sure if these are edible or not, but I don't think you'd want to eat them, anyway ;o)

I really don't know my flowers, but I just used the ones with scented leaves. they look

different from the "regular" ones. Previously I didn't know they were even related.

I know a little about botany, it's one of the useless things that stuck in my head, but

I admit, I had to google this one! It only sounded vaguely familiar.

No, I don't think so. The Delta Divertisment that they do prior is more limited

but the actual SFA event is pretty open. They also do an event at Blackberry Farm in either January or February that I am dying to go to. Chefs like Thomas Keller, David Chang and such come to that.

Oh, BTW - Bittman is going to be at MTSU Tuesday night so I am going

Not too often we get any good chef or food folks around here so I can't miss it.

Sunday Six...

1. got uninspired for breakfast and had a bowl of Kelloggs Special K... gotta get back to this diet before the holidays hit me

2. Had lunch at a new (to me) place in Brentwood called Tavern. Sat next to Bruce Willis, current wife, and obnoxious loud teen daughter. Food was pretty good, but $15 for french toast with a few bits of apple was pretty ridiculous in my book.

3. Got home in the late afternoon and hubby reminded me I'd promised to make him pb cookies. What can you do?!

4. Totally uninspired for dinner but since it was football on the tv, hubby wanted little pizzas. I made "personal size" pizzas using pita bread. Love em.

5. Trying ((yet again)) to stick to some kind of diet, I opted out of the pizzas (still feeling guilty about the french toast) so I had some of the cannellini with tomato-sage sauce and brown basmati rice that I made yesterday - thanks, Joe - this is now one of my favorites!

6. Gonna get a head start on the Cream of Cauliflower Soup that SallyBR posted - looks dreamy!

(((Dawn))) I'm so sorry your family is going through this. It's something that's with you forever,

It's so heartbreaking....I'm praying for your family....

I can smell the wonderful smells all the way down here!

Since Joe opened my eyes to the delights of Poached Pears, yours sounds wonderful!

Have you posted the recipe here?

Cannellini w/tomato-sage sauce and brown basmati rice sounds good, and healthy too! Bruce Willis?!!

Ooh, such terrible news about your cousin. And his poor

kids are without their father, in a strange, new state, and apparently with a loose cannon of a mother! Prayers to you and your aunt.

Mark, you made me laugh. If I would see a cauliflower sale, it would not occur to me to purchase 6!

What did you do with them???

Yup, and his wife is a cute young thing. Seemed very nice, trying to talk low and not draw attention

made it hard for me to look uninterested when I had to lean over so far to hear them smileys/smile.gif
