I think (although from the linked article, I'm a little confused now) that Pelargonium is the genus
of common geraniums. So you're basically right, Eva, although the petals?/leaves from the flowers in the genus Pelargonium are the common, bitter ones.
After reading it again, I see Geranium is the genus of the scented ones and include the ones which are sometimes used in cooking. Pelargonium is the genus of the common (think red ones you see in gardens) ones. I'm not sure if these are edible or not, but I don't think you'd want to eat them, anyway ;o)
