Never one to shirk my duty.,,

I rarely chime in on hot topics like this, but I think that if we post

any NFR-topics here, we should feel free to talk about any and all of them. Unless of course if it is offensive or hurtful, or if the personal has some kind of adgenda, which would not only be against the reader agreement, but would also be downright mean ;o)

Ignore something that might offend you personally, start a discussion thread like this one (sometimes it's good to air things out), or PM the person(s) that you have an issue with.

Now, pass the potatoes - I'm hungry!

Me too! extra dessert! What family do you know of that doesn't have disagreements around

the dinner table? I must say, we seem to have given this topic a lot of thought and have done so without much of the angst and ugliness we had *over there*.

Love all you guys --

A coda to all this (hopefully)...

This thread is the prime example why religion is not a good topic for this forum. We all have very different interpretations of that, and to each, his or her own freedom to do so. Most of us live in the US and we are free to practice our hearts however we choose.

It was not my intent to stir up this mess. And I'm sure most of you understand that.

But what is it that our parents told us? Don't go to a social gathering and discuss the three taboos: Religion, Politics, and Sex.

You're going to get in an argument, because people disagree, sometimes extremely vehemently, about these topics.

That was adequately demonstrated today. (And I'm sure if I started posting my political views here, there would be uproar, being the progressive flaming liberal socialist that I am.)

Nowhere did I suggest that we cannot share in the joys, sorrows, victories, milestones, and mundaneness of our lives. That was hijacked and totally blown out of proportion by a shrill voice who I can only hope regrets the pain and hurt that was caused.

But I need to set that back upright and not let someone else define it for me.

Peace and love. Let’s cook and talk about our lives. That’s why we’re here.

Written on the back of our United States currency is

religious beliefs are tolerated here. What a great country we live in!

Tolerance is the key word in my opinion. Considering our diverse culture and religious beliefs, I think tolerence and respect are the BEST key words.

Because, as I said, " I need to set that back upright and not let someone else define it for me."

Obviously you disagree. That's fine.

But you have to admit my original post was hijacked and turned into something entirely different by the poster who is now the first on my "ignore" list.

I never let other people define my beliefs and views.

And again, obviously, religion is not a good topic here. That has been adequately demonstrated.

This whole thread was misinterpreted, the original post was about a syncronized performance that got

blown out of proportion and then brought to a new level of out of proportion by richard who started this thread.

The original thread was about happy hands, and how it got to be this so far out and way out of control is because one person said it was religious and then richard added to it by creating this thread.

It was hijacked by richard because this new thread is about his feelings of religion, not akin at all to the original happy hands.. and I am so hurt that it got this far out of control. I am so sorry I thought an amazing performance would get so distorted.

If this negative thread was never created there would have been no hurt feelings, the responsibility of hurt feelings lies on the person who created this particular thread.

Imagine how it appeared to see this thread created in response to a post about a synchronized performance that was amazing and suppose to be uplifting.. It now was anything but.

Its sad that this created thread hurt so many people and I wish Mimi would just remove it.

dianne, I agree it did get out of hand. I just wish that

you didn't use our dear Randi as an example to make your point.

That said, I do agree with you that this whole thing did in fact get out of hand and I sincerely believe that your original post was, as you said, an "amazing performance" and you innocently meant no harm.

I saw the video and did not believe that it would intentially offend anyone.

I do too, I was upset and typed and I was going to delete it and I hit enter instead

I feel quite bad, definitely never did I want to hurt her I was meaning something else, and I hit that enter key and I couldn't take it back.

I'm just so bothered by this whole thing that richard would create this thread and blow my original post SO out of proportion..and this whole thread by richard, to begin with had such a strong negative overtone, and honestly there is no way that richard didn't know it would turn out this way and that I am not too happy with how terrible this whole thing has become ~ over an uplifting happy hands synchronized performance to enlighten everyone here... it rings of an epi post.

This whole thing is upsetting, and I lay that responsibility on richard who started this whole ugly thread, it was in response to my happy hands post that was meant to be uplifting and richard and cheesegrits turned it so incredibly ugly.

Ugh. Please guys, I'm tempted to close this thread.

Had some private requests to do that already. Can we just let it die without me having to do that?
