It was a nice day so we drove out to where he was competing in a charity event... a few cars were pulled over to the side of a country road adjacent to where the exclusive, exculsive golf course (over $300 per spectator ticket) is, and we got there just in time to watch him swing? shoot? drive? (whateve the proper term is) - not a putt - at the 13th hole. We could hear the oohs and aahs of the crowd, and they announced his name, but we couldn't really see faces.

That's my excitement for the month...

Very Cool!! ...Reminds me of when Al Roker and I shared a revolving door at Rockefeller Center

I stepped on Mikhail Baryshnikov's foot in a crowded elevator at Julliard once...

He is so short. I didn't see him down there. LOL. Was also checking into a hotel in Palm Springs a couple years back and Dick Van Dyke was also checking in and we exchanged pleasantries while we were waiting. I just pretended I didn't know who he was. I saw lots of famous people walking out on the streets when I lived in NYC. Dustin Hofmann, Richard Dreyfuss, Leonard Bernstein, Jackie O, Milton Berle, Barbara Feldon, and some others. I'm also in the Macy's Parade crowd shot in Woody Allen's "Broadway Danny Rose" (which is where I saw Milton Berle).

Oh yeah?....Well, I snubbed Robert Mitchum when he was filming

a western movie in the ghost town in Arizona where I grew up. Chloride Arizona. I was 16 or 17 and he was around 50. My, (in the near future) BIL, who was THE town Sheriff, was all ga-ga about him. He "hit" on me...I just thought he was OLD! And just for fun, I've put a link to a site of Chloride so you can see why many of those old western movies were filmed there. The gas station in the lower left was owned by my guys' Dad and Mom. See? I knew how to marry...up! Oh, and we both knew we would be happier in large cities. We've never looked back. Well, maybe...I'm a real land Barrenness in Chloride. Don't really know why I haven't sold it all.

I rode the elevator with Barbara Streisand.. she was in curlers with BIG sunglasses on....

like THAT would disguise who she was smileys/smile.gif

and Tommy Smothers sat next to me when I worked in a bank and chatted a bit

I would have been totally tongue tied except it took me a few minutes to realize who he was - nice, nice guy.

We were on a 3 day ferry cruise with Whoopie Goldberg and her "new" husband way

back in '86. She was very sweet and totally smitten with her musician hubby.

My eldest son has met two of the greatest running backs in NFL history:

Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.

Walter Payton signed his copy of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" we had just purchased at the Disney store. We were leaving the mall and I noticed Walter sitting at a coffee kiosk sipping a cup of java. My son was 4.

When my son was in the second grade, he showed Emmitt Smith and his wife and kids around the classroom. Emmitt had just been signed by the Cardinals and his kids were going to attend school there.

The twist? My son has no idea these two guys are two of the most famous football players int he history of the NFL because he has no interest in football. He never has. He's a swimmer!

They are both very classy guys, and Emmitt is a great Dad. Very involved, gentle and caring. His wife, Pat, is a very sweet and kind person. I worked with them as volunteers at school. I'll post a pic of Pat and I playing Fiona and Shrek (guess which one I was) at a school carnival, if I can find the photo.

I was 300 pounds then, so I filled out that costume without any padding!

I've seen lots of famous people by accident but there's something about watching an athlete who's #1

in the world doing his thing. When I was younger, I also saw Eric Heidin win a gold medal at the Oylmpics but somehow yesterday just struck me as a real privilige, even though we "stole" a peek. Maybe that was the reason ;o)

I had dinner with Dan Marino

well actually he was at the table next to us. We were having dinner at the Contemporary Resort in Walt Disney World Florida. It was around the time he was deciding whether to renew his contract or not and the reports were stating that no-one seemed to know where he was -was he in hiding? Well there he was with his family at the table next to us. He started a conversation with us - we chit chatted a little. We would have never started a conversation with him because I'm a firm believer that everyone has a right to privacy - especially since he was there with his family. A few fans did walk up to him during his meal though.

We've bumped in to other people too - Newt Gingrich at the Flying Fish Cafe (also a Disney resort). A young male tennis star - back in the 90's - don't remember his name - also at a Disney Resort.

Another NYC celebrity sighting...

We were in the city with an elderly aunt, and were going to take her on a ride through the park in a horse drawn carriage. We were across from the Plaza, crossing the street when Anne spied a gentleman in jeans and a tan jacket, carrying a camera and pulling a little dog behind him. She excitedly chimed "Well HELLO, Tony!!" Tony Bennett smiled broadly at her and returned her greeting like she was an old friend. Made her day!!

My first job after cooking school was at Marriott's Exxex House across the street from..

Central Park.

Many NY Giants stayed there Saturday and would have a gameday breakfast on Sunday morning and then suit up in a room adjacent to the kitchen. I don't why. We would get the breakfast orders on Saturday night, and let me tell you. Those boys could eat.

being a New Yorker, there were just so many, particularly living in the Village

Woody Allen's favorite place to film. but, memorable ones:

Mario Batali inviting me into his kitchen at Po

dinner with Gregory Hines, small, village resturant, tables close together. I didn't recognize him so we had a very relaxed conversation through dinner. really nice guy!

oh, and Liberace in one of his beautiful capes, woah
