Question: have any of the recipes you've posted lately qualified for the T&T?

The T&T Hall of Fame is suffering from neglect. Remember, it's only for recipes that at least three members here have tried and liked. SURELY there are a ton that qualify that no one's added?

I think we're a bit gun shy. You're right. There have been many great recipes posted that are very

popular. The forever roasted pork comes to mind, but since it's a Michael Chiarello(sp) recipe can we add it to T&T?

If I recall correctly 2 people loved the Tyler Florence soup recipe I made and shared. Also

another person or 2 commented on something else (can't recall, but it hasn't been that long ago) they thought it was a great recipe and I or we commented that it should be in tried and true.

Let me know if you want me to do a search for whatever it was.....

Can we have another small discussion about T&T?

We are not getting enough recipes in T&T and the process of getting some in there is a bit clumsy, don't you think?

Why is a recipe "qualified" only if more than two different people try it and like it- and not if one person makes the recipe many times and loves it? It is my feeling that people should be able to post favorite recipes without having the qualification we have now. Maybe you all will consider changing it so that tried and true recipes (but NOT those that "look good" but haven't been tried) of all kinds can go in- I would love to see that! There would be such a great variety of things to choose from. I go into T&T now and, while the recipes that are there are good ones, I don't find as much variety or new postings to pick from as I would like.

Just a thought-

If we have made it for years, shared recipes with friends, and everyone asks for it...

shouldn't that qualify as T&T? There are SO many recipes posted here that are actually T&T but we may never get around to trying them with the masses of choices.
Thanks, Mimi!!
p.s. unless, of course, you can make a new section for "Family T&T" as oppposed to "Finer Kitchen Favorites" smileys/smile.gif In your free time, of course *g*

But I thought that this board, the main one, was the place to post T&T recipes and ...

...indicate that they are your personal T&T's. If we post T&T's on the other board, then this one becomes more for ISO's and chat.

A search of "T&T" would pull up many of those, albeit not by catagory.

Shouldn't the Hall of Fame be something other than personal favorites no one else has tried?

I guess I'm not getting it...

Michael

My thoughts...

In the beginning when people asked me to do this, and in other subsequent discussions, it was agreed that THIS was the board to post your favorites. If other people tried and liked, it qualified for the "Hall of Fame".

I think we need to place some kind of control on it because what happens is that people we don't know, newbies or people who only post recipes without "talking", show up, post a whole bunch of recipes on the T&T, and then disappear. In some cases this was people who seem to post a lot of recipes that they haven't tried.

At least if there is a control on it I can have some basis for deleting these recipes and keeping the archive "clean." If it becomes a free for all, I won't be able to do that for several reasons: no way to check, and lack of time to keep an eye on it.

Besides, if you've made it for years, but nobody else here likes it...does it really qualify for the Hall of Fame! LOL! I don't think so.)

Unless...

unless we create a category of "elite" members and only those people are allowed to post in the T&T. Such as people with 1000 posts or more, for example.

Okay, my half-cent worth, I agree with Michael and what you said here, that this board should

be the place for posting a recipe for the first time and there should be a consensus for posting in tried and true. As for number of posts, I just checked and I've been a pretty prolific poster but that doesn't make me more qualified than someone who might have posted less. It would be nice to have the tried and true to be recipes that have actually worked for several people under different circumstances and that we know we can count on.

Now back to my bags (and bags and bags!) of mulch. I'm the mulch queen this week.

Speaking of which, I had noted sometime back that Pat-NoCal's Luscious Lemon Cheesecake received

raves from 2 or 3 people after she posted it. Shouldn't it be in the Hall of Fame?

I see the FK Mimi's place as a spot to post recipes that we as individuals, have tried and love. If

they go further than that, and others love them too...and this does not happen all the time....then they get posted to the T&T. We already have a board for posting one level, the T&T moves them to the next level.

Personally, I think I have only twice posted to the main board, something that I have not made. We all have loads of access to thousands of recipes that we haven't tried. But once they work for US, then I think the first step is to post for others to try. BUt I think the T&T needs to be less subjective and more a result that has appealed to our masses.
