Question: have any of the recipes you've posted lately qualified for the T&T?

And I would completely disagree completely. There are people who post a lot and there

are people who don't post often. In fact, those who don't post often may have the 'better' or more popular or more desirable or just all around more wonderful recipes to post. When they do, it's noticed. But I don't think we can make this selective by quantity rather than quality.

And - boy I"m on a nasty roll today - furthermore, if 2 others agree with posting it on the T&T,

then I think that means that it reached that level of popularity. If folks come back and say "It's good" but don't find the impetus to encourage or support the T&T posting, that means, to me, that it doesn't quite make it. ANd that's how the T&T stays less objective and true to offering only "the best". The best, as openly agreed by 2 others.

We can come back to make a comment about someone's recipe as being good, without having to rave all over it. That is behaviour by some and not by others. We all use different words to express what we want to say. But the move to the T&T simply means...I will make this again, I encourage you to make it because I think that you will enjoy it too, and probably, you could rely on this recipe to serve to guests without having tried it yourself first.

Here's an idea. If you want to stop the infrequent visitors from posting there, why not link a

password to entry at the T&T that becomes automatic after 1000 postings. Still, it needs to have 2 other invitations, but it would stop the problem you've mentioned Mimi.

I think we all had it right the first time. (I guess I could have just said that.)

Maybe that's part of what makes it a HoF recipe...it sounds good enough that people want to try it?

What is HoF? I really don't understand, if it sounded good to me, I>>>

made it and then made it many times for family or friends who loved it, well what does it take to make it sound good to others?

Orchid, I think sometimes it's just timing. Your recipe may post at a time when

folks are running short of it and think they'll get back to it later. If you are really in love with something, I think it's fine to keep posting it.

And then, we can be really different animals in terms of what appeals to us and when. I recognize that my tastes are quite different from those of some others. That keeps life interesting. We also have differing dietary needs. Just because everyone else doesn't know what's good for them.......

I agree that it's frustrating. Even more frustrating is that you can post a recipe several times and no one bites. And just when you've given up, someone finds it in their "to try" files and makes it. They forget who posted it, (as I so often do) and how often, but love it anyway. They post it when all the heavenly bodies are in the right positions and a horde of people whip it off to their kitchens to give it a go. As expected, and finally, everyone loves it and wants him/her to post it in the T&T.

Well, why didn't you all listen to ME when I was badgering you about trying it, long ago? AAAARGH

The important thing is that it gets out to people, sometimes with a lot more effort than at other times.

In fact, I often feel overwhelmed by the number of things I want to try. When I really, really love something, I want to make it fairly often, leaving me with even less time to adventure.

Well, there ya go Marg. I'll just wait for them to scroll up off the page and>>>

then I'll just re-post it! Hah! I'll wear them down! Thanks for making me laugh Marg, I'm having a bad day and am much to serious. {{{Marg}}}

Maybe we need a post every once in awhile like Joe's where

we list recipes we have posted and really wish others would try. That seemed to get some of those recipes tested. (I think it was Joe)

What I notice is, that when a recipe is tried, it is usually "tweaked" and therefore changed so

the original that gets put in T&T is not really the recipe that ends up on the table of the next person that tries it. That is the fun of having so many creative cooks here- we all make recipes our own.

If I have a favorite recipe that I post and I have made it a zillion times, served it to happy guests and really think it is a winner, it is not worthy of being in T&T unless two other people are interested in trying it? See, I am having trouble making clear sense of that.

When I search for a new recipe, i.e. something different with chicken, it is far more convenient for me to go to T&T to "poultry" and sift through the postings than to go do a search through the general forum postings but when there is nothing new to sift through I end up going over to Epi or somewhere else to find a recipe. I certainly am not trying to make a big stir here but it just feels like we are under-utilizing Mimi's terrific format.

Would Marilyn's Black Garter Belt Pie qualify for T&T? post 5906

Wasn't this a favorite already over on the old Gail's?

that was Joe and it was a great post. his "hard sell" recipes that had him jumping

up and down are really good! I can understand the manicotti as it's a bit "involved" though easy. dang that's good stuff! his provencal chicken was easier and seriously good too. I have to wait for the farmer's market this summer to try one of his other favs.

in turn, Joe tried the bacon and leek flan I've been waving my arms and screaming about. it was nice to get pushed a bit to try something we had overlooked.... IMHO smileys/smile.gif

I agree completely with Marg. There are people who post dozens of recipes

without having tried them.
