Question: have any of the recipes you've posted lately qualified for the T&T?

O.K. I just figured out, wine does indeed make you smarter, was reading through this and thought of

how recipezaar has the "star" rating system. Could we add stars to recipes--avatar?-after we have tried them and after so many? stars they could become T&T? They use it for the reviews, so a star would have to be attached to a review.
I always just thought the recipes here in T&T had been made by several people.
I never felt it was o.k. to add something. Ang suggested that for Galley Girl Phad Thai, but I wasn't sure about the process. That recipe has been around since Gails and had at least three great reviews lately?

Perhaps if we use standardized acronyms here, things would be easier to search for

For example, I think it may be confusing using "T & T" when refering to things that are eligible to go into the "FK Hall of Fame", as well as our own personal "T & T".

I agree with Ang that we need a "Jumping Up and Down" post every so often to push the cream of the crop forward.

I have so many recipes in my "To try" pile from here, I sometimes change the order of them if I see someone else has tried and liked them.

I like the way the Hall of Fame is set up now, where there is a concensus of the board members for posting recipes there. I also think some folks are hesitant to post there without being specifically asked to do so. Don't be shy folks! smileys/smile.gif

One more suggestion:

Mimi,

Would it be difficult to change the search default for "Include only messages in the past XX days" to the full life of the board?

I find that I frequently forget to change it to search "All", then can't find things that I know are here somewhere. I suspect others do the same.

Have another glass of wine Nan, then post the Galley Girl recipe in T&T

definitely qualifies since more than 3 of us love it. But where will you post it? In Pasta?

that's a great idea Ang. maybe it should have a designated title so we find it via

a search? I can't find Joe's post and I know there were a few recipes posted that I wanted to try. maybe we could do a try it thread every couple of weeks?

sometimes I see a recipe I want to try and then lose tract of it :-0

"My thoughts" ... Mimi I agree with you....

Ok, now days I'm an infrequent poster but if I recall the thought was Hall of Fame was for recipes that several folks chimed in to say they loved something no matter if they post all the time or not because it's about the recipe, not the poster, for example CathyZ's roasted chicken has many votes as we all know from Gail's.

I'm sure we are aware different folks have different tastes and that was one of the nice things about HoF because one could be sure a recipe would appeal to a wide audience - therefore a great place to find a recipe for company and such.

In the past at Gail's every so often we had a post where folks would ask - "What are your favorites?" We could do that from time to time so as to keep up with more recent recipes tried and easily see who chimes in. Then add to HoF when appropriate.

So, for example, even tho I think my Cashew Macadamia Crunch is TDF (and I can eat the whole batch by myself if someone doesn't stop me) smileys/smile.gif unless other folks think so too and make lots of yummy noises -it shouldn't be in HoF.

Just my two cents. I vote for keeping the requirements as is.

PS If you notice on my posts to HoF where I posted old Gail's favorites I included the other folks who chimed in if I had the information.

Mimi,The T&T Hall of Fame says"These forums are for recipes that have been tried by several people"

in the group and have been generally hailed as very good..." This is bound to be misinterpreted, because it's unclear. What is several? Three, four, or twelve? smileys/smile.gif Above, you're saying it should be T&T and liked by "at least 3 members," which is more specific. So, if we all agree with this, my suggestion is to post the rules to specifically say "at least 3 members." This way, there is nothing vague about it.

I agree on that point...I'm always running a search twice because I forgot to change the date range.

That's true, it has to read well. And it also has to translate well so that several cooks will have

similar results with it. That's why I agree that it's important that it be a group consensus.

Boy, I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but I made one of PatNoCal's rec. over the holidays, thought

it a candidate for T&T but having no idea who else had tried it, I was unsure what to do. I realize it was probably as simple as posting the question as to whether anyone else had and how many, but it just seemed an odd way to do it.

and a designated name for these threads? try it, you'll like it? thanks for the link Joe smileys/smile.gif

Hi Diane, not stupid at all....

What I usually do is just post saying "So and so, I tried your blah blah blah recipe and it was great/fantastic/yucky" (well, I've never actually told someone the recipe they posted was yucky...)

I usually post a link to the recipe, so if someone else wants to try it, they can easily find it for reference.

Also, when I see someone post about a recipe they tried and liked that I've had past success with, I usually chime in with agreement.

I also make sure I post a thank you for a recipe I have tried from someone>>>

for those same reasons. To let them know we like it and maybe someone else has tried it and maybe qualifies for T&T or maybe someone else will just try it. I always post a link to it. I think most everyone would like to hear that someone tried and liked a recipe they posted.
