Question. If you could take a cooking class from anyone (alive), who would it be...and why?

Deffinately with THE TWO FAT LADIES (one is dead now) I want to ride on that bike and cook....

in different locations. Their recipes are great and that, coupled with their humour, would make for a wonderful lesson.

WOW - hard to say but Around the World in 80 Little old grandma's kitchen sounds pretty good!

I don't know 80 sounds like a lot then when I start taking the countries and thinking of the different regions that have their very specific foods, all of a sudden 80 doesn't seems like such a big number.

Okay, I can't resurect the dead, but I have been approached to put on a culinary event

with cooking demos. This gives me some great ideas. Thanks everyone!

I know someone who can demonstrate Cassoulet and Queen of Sheba. He likes to travel...

and though he has no credentials whatsoever he's real cheap.

Thanks Randi. I spent last weekend up on Orcas and had an amazing time...

of course it's jaw-dropping beautiful up there and the farmer's market is so much fun. I booked a couple chefs for an event happening during the month of June and went up there to make sure the venue was okay and smooth over any details.

This week my friend is cooking up there...she's a James Beard Award-winning author that cooked President Clinton's 1st inagural meal. We flew her out from Vermont and I just got a message from her...she's utterly thrilled to be there. We've got a couple other regional chefs who will be up there the rest of the month, but next year, I'm planning on something much more significant. We'll see...at this point it's a work in progress...with lots of potential. smileys/smile.gif

By the way, Randi, I'm imagining Orcas looks alot like your neck of the woods. Is it?

Hmm, maybe I'm too close to the subject. I see lots of those awful foil catering trays,

with the clear plastic lids cracked just a little so you can't stack them....

and the help not showing up, and extra guests who who do show up having never RSVP'd, and a grill that's out of butane, tables without cloths, drinks without ice, and a big power shortage.

LOL, who in their right mind would want to entertain like a caterer?

yes, it's similar to where I am, rugged beauty that can just take your breath away. but,

we don't get the orca's here very often. a few weeks ago there were a few pods and I was desperate to get out to see them but the seas were too rough for the little zodiak smileys/frown.gif

we still have lots of grey's since it's migration time. the orcas just come to feed so we never know when we'll see them. the boat captain said one of the bulls had a dorsal that was 6 - 7 ft high... he was just HUGE!

our farmer's mkt is about the size of the one in your photo's and we now have lots of organic greens coming in and it's just wonderful! you'll be getting lots of great, fresh salamon when you're there. have a blast babe!

oh Joe..... all those great straight lines in one post.... I'm just going to walk away from the

puter now.... ROTF
