Reminder about posting in "Favorite Recipes" section

Cyn, I think that is what happened with a lot of the recipes - others asked the original poster to

add them to the Favs section. I don't see any problem with doing it that way.

Cyn - that sounds like a good reason to keep it more open...

I guess the bigger issue is the title - something that indicates that it's not just a personal favorite.

Me too. Only exception to these suggestions would be that...

it not be a requirement for someone other than the author to post it in the Favorites section.

Gets too complicated that way. Personally, I like "Tried & True" or "Swap Favorites".

Just a thought: What if you had to be a "Member," with 50 posts, before you could post there...

I don't mean to sound elitist, but someone who has put in their 50 posts to become a "Member" would probably know by then how the Favorites should work.

Maybe, maybe not.

I am pretty sure some just go ahead and post their own. I think the rule is simple--it has to be recommended by at LEAST one other member that has tried and LOVED the recipe. You should be BEGging to have it on there!! ;o)Someone asked me to post a recipe and I said I don't even know how--that they could do it for me.

Me too...I posted 2 recipes that I know are fabulous and always>>>

get raves from guests. When I read the conversation about what should be posted I asked Mimi to remove them. She said it wasn't possible and then gremlins wiped out some recipes which included one I had posted. I just didn't put it back. Maybe someone will try the other one and love it too.

Actually I think this is a good idea, I just don't have a programmer on staff right now to do it!

I like the idea of the name change, but I think it's OK if you post your own recipe...

that other swappers have enjoyed. Not to toot your own horn, but just to ensure that it gets added somehow.

That's pretty much what I am saying also. Not just "my" favorite recipe but

if I post it and several others like it and think it could be in the favorites, then so be it.
Also, hopefully the original poster will have made the recipe--or say they haven't but it looks good. I see a LOT of recipes that look great, but I wouldn't post them, UNless in answer to an ISO.

Which one was that orchid? Could you post the other one here, at the main swap. You've piqued my..

curiousity - the pork kabobs or the pork stew?

Always looking for great new recipes. Thanks.

Dawn, the two I posted is #2 in Pork -Grilled Pork Kabobs which>>>

is there. The other is #1 in Breakfast - Chili Rellano Casserole, which is not there. I think I may have posted a Green Chili Pork Stew at some point in this swap. Not sure what you want posted. Let me know..80)

Oh I agree it should be requested by someone else. I'm just thinking of ways to avoid

misunderstandings about what is meant by favorites. It's easy to think that it's for our own favorites if you don't read the description.

And now to argue against myself: Some new members are veterans from Gail's who might have a treasure of recipes on their computers, so maybe we don't want to exclude them.

I like Andrea's "Hall of Fame" idea for a possible name change.

I beleive it was intended for both recipes from "over there" as well as new or current things

posted here. There are a lot of recipes in the Favorites that were originally posted elsewhere and got an all-around thumbs up - Gretchen's Pulled Pork comes to mind.

Sort of an old and new collection - with the key elements being, as Mimi said "generally hailed by several other members" as being very good. I think that is the point - without regard to where the recipes came from, that the current users of this forum have tried and praised the recipe.

I personally like to see the recipe posted by the original poster from Gail's---it's a favorite

associated with that person. It was their recipe that we loved, like Joe's lemon bars, so why would we not want to have his name posted with the recipe over here in favorites? I guess I don't understand.

I think MImi means a programmer to modify the "Favorites" to restrict access to members who've been

here a while, regardless of whether they're posting their own requested recipe or another's. That was my idea, then I talked myself out of it, and now I'm confusing everyone. Sorry.

Absolutely! Lisa, what do you think of Andrea's idea of calling it the "Hall of Fame?"

I like it.

Ang, the Lemon Bars were tried by a few people and someone asked me to post it in

"Favorites." But if I had another personal favorite that I wanted to share, I shouldn't just put it straight into "Favorites" on my own.

Making a rule that you can't post your own recipes could prevent that.

(Glad you liked the lemon bars.)
