Sooooo...Fess Up! What are YOUR New Year's Resolutions?

Yeah, no metro stop close enough to make DC convenient. But I am determined to

not let that stop me. Last night I e-mailed my book club, we recently read "The Man Who Loved China" by Simon Winchester and then went to see him speak at NatGeo. Now NatGeo is showing the Terra Cotta Warriors so I thought it would be a great idea for us to go see the warriors! They have good parking, it's just the getting there part......

Joe, I feel the same about exercise, I REALLY, STRONGLY dislike it....

but I am more afraid of all the "genetic" un-health factors built into me. So I push on with the exercising stuff. My favorite part is "done", DH keeps asking me if I get the runners high but I don't think my short distance and slow pace is enough to bring on the "high", LOL!!! I just am glad that I have done it and it's over for the day!

Keep up the good work! It is most definately worth the effort.

I got runners' high once or twice before I permanently damaged my knee while running....

many years ago. I don't think it was worth it.

I have a Wii and got the Wii Fit dvd - lots of fun and almost makes you think you aren't exercising!

Joe, am excited to hear about the gardening! I recall last year the time you used college students.

Very cool....Always fun to hear what everyone is planting...I live vicariously through you....My garden, while well planned, and thought out....did not really work....Will give it a whirl again next year!

((Big hugs!)) This time of year, reminds us of all of our family/friends that are know longer with us....But for me, I need to think about the wonderful things/laughs that they brought into our lives....(It always ends up putting a smile on my face!)

Best,
Barb

For the first time in decades....

.... I do not have any New Year Resolutions, which is a bit strange.

So I guess I'll just keep doing my two resolutions for last year, which were baking bread regularly and get serious at weight training

I have to say those were two great resolutions, I am very glad I kept both going...

Joe, my friend Crescent has a new bean book coming out in 2010! Let me know

if you want an intro. I bet she'll share some preview recipes. smileys/smile.gif

Congrats on bringing order to your home & working out. Those are on my list for 2010 as well.

The good news is, if I remember right, you started cooking classes in 2009. Sounds like you've hit your stride with those. (Remember how nervous you were???)

xoxo-
T

OMG, I do remember how nervous I was! But it was with good reason--it's like a performance, lol

They're definitely going better, and I've learned that the mistakes are at least as instructive as the successes.

I'm feeling less confident about the order and the workouts. Maybe we can give each other a boost on those.

Any bean recipes you want to send my way would be welcome. I've always loved bean dishes, it's just remembering to soak them the night before, or the long cooking time if you don't soak, that keep me from doing them more often.

Thanks, Traca!

I'm taking a part-time position with the gardening non-profit I already volunteer for....

It's a demotion, really, because I am currently on the board of directors, but I'll get paid.

These are friends of mine, and the only challenge was to arrange it so I don't have to give up cooking or art; it has to stay half time. We're fine-tuning the job description and should finalize it next week.

Yippee! Half the problem solved.

Yay, Joe, that's great! A win-win for both sides. Please keep us posted as things develop, and best

of luck to YOU!

If I exercize at home, I'm too close to the refrigerator. (It's a tiny house, lol)

Have either of you tried Christmas Lima beans?

My friend is selling them at her farmer's market booth and loves them. She has always hated lima beans but said these taste nothing like them. They have smoky undertones. I have Crescent's soup book and look forward to her bean book. Any preview recipes will be greatly appreciated.
