Test

Nice to meet someone from AZ, originally from NJ, Az to break record of 28 +days of 110 & above smileys/frown.gif

I'm originally from Philadelphia....(more)....

but I've been here for about 18 years.

Speaking of heat...I was here when they
had to shut down Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport
because the heat exceeded flight specs.

It was 122*F that day.

I moved here in 1981. That day of 122 was June 26, 1990, day my nephew was born, the heat caused my

sister to go into labor. I bought that T-shirt that said "I survived 122 on June 26, 1990" I gave it to my sister. My Nephew Johnny has worn it (doesn't like it though)

I've been to Philly, many many times, upstate Pennsylvania as well. I lived in Iselin NJ, by Woodbridge, and it was a little over 1 1/2 hours to Philly. When we were teenagers on school vacation, we would get on a train and mostly go to Manhatten or Philly. I toured the Philly museum, it was great even touched the Liberty Bell... I was on a girl scout field trip in 1975 (11 yrs old) As I got older, I went there often, the food was like no other. Pizza, hogies, and of course the famous Philly sandwich, no place in AZ matches that- maybe Romanelli's, unless of course you know some. As for as the Italian Sandwiches go... there is a place on 35th Ave & Dunlap called Romanelli's, their sandwiches will make you homesick and their mini Italian grocery store and goods are superb. I haven't tried their Philly sandwiches though my brother Paul said they were like home.

I had that t-shirt, too....(more)....

I gave it to my mother. She lives in
northern Michigan.

When I was living in Philly, we used to
love going to Hershey. The whole town
smelled like chocolate, and they had a
great public pool facility.

And, we always went to Wildwood in the summer.

Around here, there used to be a place on
32nd Street and Camelback called "A Taste
of Philadelphia". The owner was a former
cheese-steak street vendor in Philly. They
made excellent cheese-steaks, and he used to
have Tasty Kakes special delivered to his
store, before they started popping up all
over the place. And he sold Habbersett's
scrapple. (I LOVE scrapple!)

But I don't know whether or not he's
still in business. I don't think he is.

I was there then. I remember thinking...Wow, if they now had the humidity that we have, this city's

population would drop to what it was 10 years ago.

The heat was truly searing, but I just didn't find it as uncomfortable as less heat plus humidity.

wow, scrapple! I haven't had that in years now and I really love it too.

don't even want to get started on the cheese steaks and Tasty Kakes. I'm seriously overdue for a trip back east for a food fix!
