Sun! has appeared again - time to clear off the sidewalk and driveway - it's up to 0 right now. Edited to include: moonlight x-country skiing tonight at local park!!

Baking SOMEthing today - so happy to have that option again

Weekend started off last night by taking in a lost (stray? homeless?) cat in out of the cold (-10 here last night), feeding him, and letting him sleep in the basement until someone could come today and pick him up and take him to a volunteer no-kill rescue place she runs. First a trip to the vet for snip-snip and hopefully then he will find a home. I'll try and post a picture. We would've keep him but we have enough pets and just couldn't deal with another right now. Thank goodness there are people like her in the world! (didn't mean for this to be quite so chatty)

Pancake breakfast at Elks club tomorrow

Wine and cheese thingie with DH's coworkers tonight - taking brie and white zinfindel, that's it, nothing fancy

Thinking of apps for Superbowl watching that will do double duty as pantry clean-out too ) I have lots of canned food down there.

The snow isn't as bad as the temps - how far north are you in NC? We have a friend in

Raleigh who moved there recently to get away from the snow. Joke's on him )

Wow! My sister is in Grandy NC, and early this AM it was already 3 inches and blowing hard.

Wonder why we moved to Texas????

I'm in Greensboro - just NW of Raleigh -The temp here now is "20

Wind: From NNE at 10mph, gusting to 20mph." According to the weather report, now there's freezing rain. Ugh.
Yeah, the sultry South - ha!

But you have hurricanes and tornadoes, don't you?! -two of the many reasons I left FL - Now I have

those AND snow and ice storms, although much less tornadoes and hurricanes than FL! That place is insane!

Well, you're very lucky! I went through two MAJOR hurricanes in 2004, within 3 weeks of each other,

and almost lost my home. I was lucky. Countless people did lose their homes, and had to live in trailers for years. I left in 2005, just before another major hurricane. I'm glad I'm out of there.

Oh, I remember THAT year. We got hit with all three in 6 weeks. Not bad

though...needed a new roof, but it never leaked into the house.

Wow! I remember there were 4 that year - Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. Which ones did you get

hit with? We got Frances and Jeanne. We needed new shingles on our roof, but that was it. I really thought our house was a goner - we had floor to ceiling sliders in the whole house and I thought for sure, the windows would explode - either that, or the roof would cave in. (No, we stupidly did not have any hurricane shutters, and didn't have the windows boarded up). Then, in 2005, just after we left FL, there was another biggie - I think it was Emily.

Central Texas, so far (knocking furiously on wood) has been left out of the awful weather, except

for NO weather -- e.g. rain -- for 5 years. We are finally, hopefully, out of the drought and just may NOT burn up this summer from lack of rain.

Downside -- massive influx of people -- escaping bad weather and other stuff from elsewhere!

Yep! East of Austin (no sun in the eyes driving in the morning or the afternoon)

It is a great town -- lots of outdoor stuff to do and music everywhere!
