Well count me among the unemployed - more time to cook now

Actually - I want to come to Austin and see my buddies down there - they let the good ones there go

they are all going out to dinner tomorrow night. I never even got to meet my boss before he resigned last month but he was great. And the guy that I reported to on a daily basis was really great. And now we're all going back and forth on Facebook

That sounds very tempting. We'll have to keep the music a secret from Jacques, though...

6 acres! You could open a B&B! You and I will cook.

You just never know, Missy, where that networking will take you! Keep at it, and be sure and PM me

when you are coming down here!

BTW, here is a 2-year old article about our once-thriving street. At the time, our landlord was

evicting the restaurant next door to us, a wonderful Italian place that was a big reason for us choosing our space, in favor of a chain that never opened. The restaurant sat empty for over a year, which really hurt us, and when another bakery finally took it last fall, the economy had tanked.

At the same time, a wealthy speculator was buying up several buildings. Since this article was written he closed the escrows, raised the rents through the roof, all the tenants left, and his buildings sit empty. He wants $10 a square foot and he won't budge.

It's a cautionary tale about how a few greedy people can ruin a community!

Add me to your list. I'm still trying to get a job in or outside of my field, and

even though they say "green" engineering is the wave of the future, it can't come quick enough. By that time I'll be ready to retire - retire? Can you say "retire" if you're not working when stop un-working?

Luckily, I have other talents, but in this economy in NYS no one's hiring those either.

I'll be thinking of you Marily, Joe, and Melissa, and hoping for the best for all of us.

A top quality B&B is my 'secret' dream - or was until now since I just admitted it

My most favorite vacation experience of all might have been year before last at Hartstone Inn in Camden Maine - owned by an award winning chef, Chef Michael Solomon (not the one from NY) and his wife Mary Jo. Absolutely incredible experience. The most incredible attention to every little detail that I have ever seen. I could just live there.

My thoughts are with you all - kinda there myself.

Working round the clock with a friend's business and trying to get two of my own off the ground. At least I'm working from home - I used to have a 2.5 hour commute on a good day.

DH lost his job, too We're now paying $929. monthly in medical insurance

I'm going back to work full time. Thank goodness we've always been savers!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you! It is hard for me to sit

at my desk in my office--having a job--and to read about others who do not have a job. I hope things turn out well for all of you!
