What kitchen item do you litterally wear out?

But...if you cooked the caramel to 300 degrees it would be hard toffee! smileys/smile.gif

Not caramel! hehe

the recipe says 300 for the brittle, I mispoke when I said caramel---just caramel colored. it's my

only candy making venture, can you tell!

The first thing that came to my mind was sponges with a scrubby side on them, and also

the rubber ring/washer that fits inside my pressure cooker. The manual that came with it (both are now heirlooms) advertised that you could order one from the company for 10 cents! Hah! The last one I bought was $2.99, at the hardware store.

oh yeah, like those rubber rings in the canister jars... hardware stores are great for those things.

That makes sense, Ang! Brittle is sooo good....but I've never melted one yet...

Always a first time! I'll be watching for that next fall when I start making candies. Now that I know it can happen it'll probably start happening to me! haha

Dawn, you can take your pressure cooker to the local 'County Extension Office"

Where they will test it for safety and replace the ring at an small cost, also.

Rubber spatulas, don't like the silicon ones...

and that's pretty much all I can find in the stores anymore. I miss my good plain ol' rubber spoonula. The silicon ones aren't bendy enough for me. I suppose I could find one online but I'd likely pay more in shipping than it's worth.
