Bag o'onions. What do you all do to store onions when they come in those mesh bags - sheesh

the last 4 red onions I brought home looked fine, but when cut they were rotten inside.

I have the worst time picking out good red onions. I look them over, I squeeze gently, I look for bad spots and firmness, picking just the right one, and whammo, yukkiness inside.

It's the time of year, they will get better and cheaper soon, hopefully. Always check the stem end,

that's where what you are describing starts. It should be firm and no wetness or mushiness there. But as your experience, even with the best of of inspection, it happens. Fortunately, we get the fresh onions here in the spring, they still have the tops like a green onion but get as big as an orange or sometimes a grapefruit! A local produce stand has fresh red ones, they are soo good!

I first heard this just after pantyhose came out on the market-some time in the 1960s

I stored onions this way for years. It is a brilliant idea.

No. I brought some from London...the mod scene was there then. They were very

stretchy and lasted for years, literally in perfect condition but I threw them out anyway. I was the only one on campus with REALLY short skirts/dresses and I can't imagine how that must have looked. And didn't care. Fashion was critical for me. But I was the only one with pantyhose that allowed the REALLY short skirts. To me it was normal since I was already accustomed to them in London.

Eventually when they came out here, they were so inferior.

Aaah, the good old days. The summer of love and flowers.

Definitely food-related.

Ah! Yes, but love and panty hose didn't.....

always go tog. so well, those darn leggings did stretch!!!! OOOOH! look what you made me remember.

I lived in London in 1970, Marg- whoo what a year. I remember the "iron clad" pantyhose

you talk about and I went back to Minnesota with my mini and maxi skirts shocking most as I went-LOL.

...and you are SO right, Joannie.

Sure. My favorite hotpants were maroon and I wore them with knee-length suede boots

...and the hotpants were part of a one-piece, long-sleeved thing with a big zipper down the front. Thought I was pretty cool. My Mother shrieked audibly when she first saw it.

Only on this forum could a thread begin with "Bag o' onions" and move on to

pantyhose, garter belts, and maroon one-piece zip-up hot pants with knee-length suede boots!

Cathy, do you have a picture you could share? Was there Nancy Sinatra hair involved?

Mais oui!! My favourite was a black hot pant suit that I wore with red pantyhose. (the top had

some red stripes in it). And with it I wore red suede shoes...what did we call them? They had that wedge heel and they laced up (same red suede) to the knee. That was a weird time.

Actually, I have a picture of me in this outfit. And I won't be sharing it.

It's probably the only photo of me in the 3 years surrounding that 'era'.

Not sharing? Why? Don't you like us? Don't you trust us? If Jane Fonda lived down Barbarella,

(have I got the hair reference right?) surely you can live down a pair of hot pants.

I lived at 50 Draycott Place in Chelsea...across the street from Mary Quant's studio and

TWIGGY frequented her studio! She would pull up in her bright red Lamborghini that had white fur seat covers. It was something.

You know Marg, even though I am looking 60 square in the face, I wouldn't change the past.....great memories.
