Bag o'onions. What do you all do to store onions when they come in those mesh bags - sheesh

this is soooo cool! I had a a suede mini skirt with matching Neru jacket and it

was just fab! loved those years. anyone remember the panty hose that had those wild patterns? and making a top by just tying two ends of a big scarf behind your neck and the other two ends around your waist?

Joe, Barbarella is just a campy hoot! we have it on dvd.

uhmmmm, maybe I should have a 60's party, I still have bells and love beads and some of the clothes I wore, my feathered headbands and the music on CD's what fun to be a hippie for an evening!

flower power forever..... smileys/smile.gif

Did any of you ever get sent home from school because of your attire?? Not that I know of this.

Mary Quant, Twiggy, That makeup that Ali McGraw pushed--those were the days.

Fish nets, window panes, colored tights. yep. And go-go boots(do you hear Nancy Sinatra singing in the background now)

(Late 60's)I was taken over the coals a bit 'cause of my hat!....Quite a few of us....

did things to our uniforms to 'modernise them.

Us English wore/wear uniforms to school.
Must say I think uniforms are a very good idea even today! ('specially today with the boys outfits of underpants showing at the top of huge trousers ...we call them.... Oh, maybe I better not say).....
In those days the hems had to be 2 fingers off the floor when we knelt.
The gym uniform (believe this or not)...was a romper, like a babies! YES!...it had a wee belt sewn on at the waist we tied and had 3 buttons to do up right down below...I was still at school when the new gym uniform came out...stretchy shorts and polo...OH what a relief!

Anyway we also had hats, winter ones of felt which we could only shrink to look perky and the summer ones of straw ...we always folded the brim to look as cowboy-like as poss. Texas style, seen in magazines from the States!

I spent quite a few detentions writing lines about how I must not become so slovenly in my uniform!...We thought we all looked cute with our knickers almost peeping from the hem line and our cowyboy hats perched on our Twiggy-like pony-tailed hairdos......
Then by the '70's all this seemed so silly as EVERYONE was starting to wear "the make-up" and "the minis" and "the boots that were made for walking"
Oh well.....I wouldn't change a thing...it was all such fun.

LOL!...it was the figure of those days that allowed that top to be made....and I could...

still eat anything I liked and the body shape stayed just right......Got to say here in the Caribbean that sort of top is still worn a lot by that kind of figure but it is beach attire now.

The name came to me as I woke up this moning. Is that it? I thought they looked perfect with red

legs.

I still have them.

Of course, shoes are such a major investment, why would anyone throw them away.

oh YES!! I had a micro mini and the school I went to would make you...

go home and change if you hung your arms straight down and the skirt didn't reach your fingertips. It DID reach my wrists but I guess that wasn't good enough smileys/smile.gif Ah.... for the days when I could show that much skin and someone actually wanted to see it!!!

I didn't see Barbarella. But if her hair was long & really curly, yes. And I have poker straight

hair. Don't know how I did it.

I dunno Joanie, have you seen any of the woodstock or SF documentaries lately?

it certainly wasn't about figures, they didn't count for much back then. it was all about freedom and rebellion. maybe it is a good thing those times are over '-)

having said that, one evening when, I'm sure Don will back at the office for a few hours, I might just try one again and hope I don't scare the cats..... smileys/wink.gif)

We had to kneel and if our skirts (couldn't wear pants) didn't touch the floor we were sent home

to change but it was always a joke because as soon as we passed the morning test we would roll up our skirts at the waistband and make them as short as we wanted to. Of course I never did that. I always played by the rules. Yeah, right. Ah, the 1960s.

Anybody remember Ghillies?

All my photos of that era are slides, Joe- I don't even know if I have one of that outfit but

one of these days I'll pull out the box and take a look at those mouldy oldies. If I have one I'll see if I can get it scanned and posted.

Same question as Marg?....we have ghillies in SA. They are the men who carry the

fishing tackle etc when we go fishing from dangerous rocks along the inhospitable coastline in the Cape. The fishing and eating the catch is about the best but the hike, climb, and finding the route led by the ghillies are also part of the whole expedition.
