C'mon everyone... my Saturday Six

No, sorry.

All of the green stuff was moldy. The chive seeds looked OK and I am saving them for spring.

Oh that's good, you are still protected then, as much as anyone! Put the expiry date in your calendar.

Just take it slow, did you roll your ankle at home or out? I know walkers are a pain but it gives you better stability than crutches.

My cane lives by the front door of my tiny studio, love the Tiny Tim analogy! Have they advised about compression socks yet? It depends on where you are in te healing process.

Slow is the name of the game. When they twinge and swell it's time to ice and rest - no matter what. If I had done that I wouldn't have had my complication after 14 months post-surgery - maybe. Pesky things. Hang in there. Wish I could come down, I'd teach you how to knit smileys/smile.gif

Absolutely the same for me...

... in fact, I think the wooden spoon is so horrible for me that I deleted the experience from my memory... reading your reply made my body fold in two

amazing, it is SUCH a repulsive feeling!

In my arms, sister! smileys/wink.gif

i was hoping you would chime in.

i haven't even seen the bone breaker yet. they couldn't work me in today..really? i don't even know what is wrong yet, other than it is a fracture upper extremity.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I only made 38 4"-ers...and threw the rest of the dough away so

I wouldn't be tempted to make more. My back was tired by that time. Put the rest of the potato filling in the freezer.

Filling is:
Russet Potatoes
Tillamook cheddar
American cheese
Pepperjack cheese
Lots and lots of caramelized onions, butter drained away
Salt & pepper

Well the good news is that breaks are much easier to heal than

tendon and ligament damage. I sure hope you can be seen soon. were you at the ER? Didn't they give you some pain drugs? They're supposed to pay attention to your pain. That's why they ask you "on a scale of 1-10 how do you feel?" To me at 10 is I am screaming aloud in pain. Post surgery I was a 9 most days until they adjusted my medication, then what a huge difference.

Thinking of you dear.

I made my dr save the date - they are good at these things. I've got 2 more yrs before I can get a booster.

I rolled it at home trying to get to the phone. smileys/frown.gif I'd actually like a walker because of balance and I've twice had my leg buckle under, but my PT person said it would only be for a couple of weeks and I think I'm doing a bit better now. My PT person wants to get me to a cane, and I have one of those too, but it didn't help when I tilted the other way when I rolled the ankle. I think I'll do better when/if I can get the foot to hang straight, it tilts to one side right now, which helped lead to the roll.

Nobody has talked compression socks yet, but they did before all this happened. One dr suggested I wear them thigh high (which I don't see how that would work so well on a curvy thigh girl). I have the store bought kind and would wear two pair if I had to go someplace, but think I might need the real deal industrial look at me I'm an old lady kind.

I'm going slooow, likely too slow for the dr. I spend most time with my feet up in bed. Wish I could come up (and bring you some soup!) I'd like learning to knit, though I always want to make something too advanced when I'm learning something new. Last year I wanted to learn to knit so I could make my niece a Princess Leia "hair style" hat I saw on Pinterest.

Maria....

I really think home is dangerous too! You just have to take your time. I had my home phone forwarded to my cell phone, which is always an inch away from me, so that I wouldn't miss calls. It's easy to set up and I think it was worth the extra $8 a month.

Can you do leg lifts while you are lying down? This helped me keep the jello thighs a bit stronger while I was in full on gimp mode. (bend one knee, then lift the other leg - held straight - up to the bent knee height, hold for a count of 10 and then lower. repeat 10 times each side. You have to suck in your abs as you do this too). Have your PT people order you the compression socks, they did that for my mom and got better ones than what she could find locally. My stark white socks are in the wash right now, so I have one old lady leg and one normal one- so much for the ego, it's long dead. I know I won't ever look alluring for quite a long while smileys/smile.gif

I had good news at last! My ortho said my injured tendon has healed really well after the injections and whooping cough related bedrest! Next week I can go back to PT and do gentle range of motion exercises and the week after that start the strengthing exercises. He cautioned me again to go slow. don't walk as much as I want to. So in other words, to the bus stop and to the office and back but not to the Ferry Building or to Whole Foods or to Japantown. It's so frustrating to have limitations, but having the chest infection is slowing me down anyway so I'm not too champing at the bit to get out there.

You should visit Ravelry! It's free, you can "friend" me there - HeatherinSF. They have lots of free patterns, it's fun to look around at what people are making. Found so great tutorials on YouTube on knitting and Craftsy has great classes. They're online and once you buy a class it's yours forever, and they're pretty cool to get on sale. I made 5 shawls last year and 2 pairs of socks while healing up from the ankle, some of them took a bit longer because I was so drugged up it was hard to count! haha! If I can ever help you just ping me.

I've got a slew of PT exercises to do at home since I only go once a week. I'm going to ask my PT person about compression socks when I see her tomorrow. After a trip to my favorite bookstore in Palo Alto yesterday, think I could really use them -- still recovering from that venture out. Need to work on range of motion/strength though.

I'll have to check-out Ravelry...but I haven't crocheted anything since HS and never did learn to knit. smileys/smile.gif
