I'm so sorry to have to post this terrible news.

Maria and I had talked about Meryl and I called the Greensboro police. Meryl took her life two weeks ago. We can only hope she and Lou are together and she has found peace.

I've been worrying about her since you posted then. I so wish there were more we could do for

people who become lonely. She and I corresponded about 4 weeks ago and I tried to encourage her to believe that it gets better but she just seemed to be feeling so empty.

Thank you Cyn for checking up.

I'm sorry I did not do better Meryl. But, I know you are now with your best friend and it is better.

just to be clear...I did not get the information from the police dept.

They are still not releasing any info as their investigation began on Sunday. I spoke with Meryl's neighbor.

Also, I'm sorry but I can't reply to pm's.

I was so afraid that this was the case...

I didn't think to call the police; I'm glad that you did Cyn - thank you.

I know that Meryl was struggling so very hard; may she have found her peace with Lou.

Devastating news...

we exchanged a few emails, she was having a horrible time, no friends, no one around. Incredibly painful loneliness

Honestly, I think that in certain situations virtual friends can do very little....

Yes, you can feel supported through messages exchanged, but night falls, you go to bed and the unbearable pain in there waiting for you. I cannot even imagine what it felt like for her.

No one should have to go through so much pain, losing a soul mate so suddenly, and be left in such state of loneliness...

it is beyond sad and tragic, and I shiver to think what her final days were like
