Saturday Six

Glad your granddaughter is ok, Dawn! Yowza--eight posts. She must be pretty shaken. smileys/frown.gif

The roast was good, at an hour I think it was a tad overdone, as I like my beef rather rare

but I would totally do this again! And the potatoes, wow, they soaked up all the onion and beef juices and got crispy. Holy cow!

thanks for the birthday wishes and for the tips on leftovers, after a slice or two last night I have tons left!

I should go make a sandwich now smileys/smile.gif

Wow, the poor thing, I think she's amazing for having kept calm and

obviously drove well until the car stopped. It could have been so much worse! The farmer sounds understanding. I am so glad she is physically unharmed. It takes a while for the PTS to go away. Hugs to you all.

Thanks Erin - I think I found that same picture from google after I posted. Yes, pretty and sounds

delicious! So does the peach/cherry cake. Oh, now you all have me wanting dessert again!!

If Turkey Dinner is her idea of Labor Day weekend at the lake

what does she expect for the big holidays??? Turkey dinner wouldn't even have been on my radar.

Actually Melissa, the turkey dinner was my idea. smileys/smile.gif

I thought if we roasted a turkey the first night, it would make great leftovers for lunches the next few days. I wasn't going to make a traditional Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner, more like a non-traditional one. I have gotten used to cooking large quantities again and it just didn't seem like that much work to me. Now, I am trying to think of something else. So far we have fajitas and marinated London Broil on the grill.

Holiday Weekend Six

1. My sixes have been pretty much deep sixed lately due to my back getting worse. (Surgery is now on the near horizon to fix what they can.) Since I've been pretty lame in the kitchen in the meantime, I did decide to go as all out as I could for hubby's birthday yesterday. I did the appies, mains and desserts and put the call out for sides.

2. Appies: Chipotle Meatballs and Spinach-White Bean spread

3. Main: Beer Marinated Chicken and Rubbed Ribs

4. Cleared and made room for all the sides friends brought. They went ALL OUT and we were fed well.

5. Chocolate Panna Cotta Cake from Epi http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/breadzone/food/cake.jpg?t=1283721878 It was a show stoppper! I have never done chocolate banding...that was quite the experience in a heat wave (it was 109).

6. For the lighter side we had pound cake with Bonni's Lemon Blueberry Wine sauce.

Now my feet are up and I am trying to recover.

I decided tonight that I am going to get one of the whole pork loins

that they sell at Sam's, and do the Herb Roasted Pork that I am so fond of. It is easy, economical and the leftovers will not be hard to transport. Thanks all for the good wishes about my granddaughter. It is a dangerous road, and she is no longer allowed to use it. Thank the goodness and the angels.
