We have jsut got a few new channels and one of them is the foodie channel! So now I will know....

She looks a bit oriental with a good tan. Long dark hair. Always has piles of friends over. She

just covers an area that no one else does, in Canada anyway. I also miss Ming whatsisname. I want to call him Ming Tsai but I'm afraid of mistaking his name with a Chinese beer.

I watched her once and found her and her little lap dog of a husband soooo annoying

that I could never watch her again. it was a show where she was "teaching" how to create an authentic french meal in america..... it consisted of wine, bread, cheese and fruit. evidently a real culinary challenge for americans... oh gimmie a break!!

May I add her little giggles and fake "aren't we having fun now" laughs to the list of annoyances?

She has solid food knowledge, no question but the husband, the dog, the adoring guests, her food ego all chased me away a long time ago.

How about her table settings? It alwasy bothered me that she has this lovely house, guests, and

unless her friend brings the flowers, her tablesettings look like a 30 second preparation. I just think that if you are having guests, a little trouble setting a pretty table is minimal expectation. And she seems to have such a lovely house. And monstrous garden FULL of FLOWERS for tablesettings and herbs up the yingyang.

Ever wonder what she does in the winter?

Ina, you are getting slayed here.

Glad you get along with your husband though.

Good Chef : Bad Chef

Today I saw this for the first time

A girl and a guy each making risotto

the "good chef" girl made a light herby shrimp and fish version while the "bad chef" guy made a rich pancetta and pumpkin version sprinkled with lots of grana padano

Interesting premise, but I almost wish the girl would make the heavy dish - she is also incredibly preachy about low fat, low this, low that...

IMO, a good chef who is called upon to make something low fat

should skip risotto altogether.

I bet that bad chef's risotto was tasty!

Well, I dunno. Can we really call it "risotto" if it isn't creamy and rich? I think we should

have some minimal expectations from nomenclature. It just seems like traditional methods require a new name once the standard is altered so thoroughly.

I just can't get away from fat.

Geez, and I took my blood pressure at the drug store yesterday. I was someone who had low BP. What a sudden change.

And what is it about the filming of both Oliver and Nigella's shows. The camera bounces all over.

Makes me sea sick. Must be a UK filming quirk that they think is fun and fab.

Lots of butter to start, then cheese, of course. Add the rice is high-caloric to start with,

so why even try to do a low-anything version?

hummmm, I don't think I've used butter in mine. I'll have to check out some other recipes cause

I love, love, loves me butter smileys/smile.gif

yes but there's very little butter, a combo of oil and butter. I'll check the recipe I use most

of the time. I could just be having a brain freeze and blanked out on the amount of butter. I always considered risotto as healthy...... but then I consider Cathy's chocolate torte healthy too... :=>
