Weird Spam from Eat@forum.forum? Mimi?

during testing. The quote was actually from Hunter S. Thompson. To be absolutely clear:
1) Several members of the Recipe Swap have graciously volunteered to help test the new site.
2) I would not login to someone else's account. Passwords are encrypted in the database and even if they were not, it would be unethical to post as someone else.

 
Hi Everyone - that was a test post from Steve at the new forum - nothing nefarious going on

There are folks testing out the functionality of the site - so first he posted something, then reported his post the the moderator for removal, just to test out the functionality of the site.

Not sure why that was sent to everyone, but that is the story behind the e-mail content. It was a quote from Hunter S. Thompson, to be exact. It is number 2 on this list, as a matter of fact:

Taken out of context in an e-mail, I can see where it would be unsettling.

Problem Identified. Working on the fix

This should be fixed soon. I've been in IT for almost 20 years and SPAM has always been very objectionable to me. I do not engage in it and it has always been expressly prohibited on the networks that I have run.

I apologize again for the extra emails you all received today. These were system generated in a proper way i.e. there was no systemic bug or flaw. There was absolutely no security breech here, no privacy breech and and absolutely no malicious code of any kind was sent from our servers. The problem was in our synching the Recipe Forum users they were imported to receive system emails by default. We will rewrite the code for synching the users and then this issue will not longer occur. I will not do anything to generate further system emails but if one of the testers accidently does so, please have patience and know that this is in the process of being resolved.

steve and others that are testing and thanks to Paul and Mimi for the smooth transition...We recognize there will be bumps!
