What's your favorite "fast food" - not homecooked? We had...

(Nancy/Wisc's post made me think about what we have if we don't eat home and don't want to go "out" to have dinner on a weeknight.)

Taco Bell last night (just NOT in the mood to cook and we didn't have a lot in the refrigerator anyway).

Got the enchiritos (which I think is a cross between echilladas and buritos). Very good!

I also like Wendy's chili and abked potatoes.

Not so crazy about McD and Burger King anymore after getting away from them for a while.

Ooh, Jreck subs are good too (that may be a local thing).

I like to stop at Safeway or Bashas (local) and pick up a

chicken dinner (usally a roasted chicken). We prefer that over Kentucky Fried Chicken. Rosati's pizza and Pick up Sticks are two others.

Carlos Mencias is a (foul-mouthed) comedian who did a routine on that dog...

...and how some latino activists got mad at the stereotype. He is an American of Mexican descent, and he doesn't like it when people get offended over things like this.

He said something about all of us need to laugh more and have thicker skins, rather than constantly taking offense at every turn.

The dog was not insulting latinos, he was selling tacos! That was his take on it.

I still love a good, drippy cheeseburger and a bunch of hot fries. I think...

McD's has the best fries (still), and the double quarter pounder with cheese is really good, if you are lucky enough to get one hot off the grill.

We have a local chain called Whataburger that makes their food to order. A double Whataburger with bacon, cheese and extra jalapenos is pretty hard to beat.

I long for a decent Chinese takeout around here.

Whataburgers are not exclusive to Az, though, Michael.....

I ate there ALOT when I lived in Texas as a child bride in the early 70's. I've eaten at WB in Florida and even north of LA near Santa Barbara. I wonder if that one is still there? I'm with you - a jalapeno burger with extra peppers is hard to beat!

The best burgers in our part of the world are Backyard Burger with Steak n' Shake coming in about tied. Both quality burgers.

I haven't eaten Mickey Dee's in 12 years - can't do their meat. We rarely get burgers for take-out, though. We drive though a local Chinese place, Bamboo Garden, most of the time for Cashew Chicken, rice and crab rangoon. (all white meat and the special for the drive-though is just $4) If anyone is driving though Missouri on I-44 email me and I'll tell you where it is and you can get the BEST Cashew Chicken and General Chicken I've ever had! Yummers!

This is a fun thread! Will be interesting to get a glimpse of people's habits!

IN "N OUT Burgers--maybe they're just a California chain. They claim to have invented >>

the drive-thru. All they sell are burgers and fries. They don't have a freezer, and they cut whole potatoes right into the deep fryer.

My fav is Fudruckers veggie burgers.

These are burger joints in the bay area though I don't know if they are exclusively here. The reason I love them is they have an area similar to a salad bar where you can add all of your own toppings to your burger in any amounts you want. They also serve onion rings that are out of this world.
I can't forget this little Indian food place in Hayward that makes the best Samosas that I have ever had. Not to mention for my fiance the Chicken Tikki Masala. We are there usually two or 3 times a month at least

Three local places: T&T Seafoods..one of the best Chinese places around, ....

Taste of Thai...wonderful Thai food and cheap...and a new BBQ place with drive-thru window..very good...And all three have your order ready within 15 mins...the bbq drive through is quicker. So it meets the definition of fast food for me!! No really great burger places though. smileys/irritated.gif

The closes thing to fast food that we come, is Boston Chicken

on rare occasions, cause I feel that you cannot beat Costco's Rotisserie Chicken for price & quality. Then I just do a salad or side, and voila.... it's fast food.

We Go To Sam's Club for their roasted chicken or Jade Palace

for chinese. Sometimes we order their lunches for take-out and then reheat them for dinner. Their food is the closest we found here, that is more like we got back east.

We used to ride though on our bikes when I lived in CA.....

Seems it might have been on Brookhurst (?) just south of the Garden Grove Fwy near Beach Blvd.

GREAT burgers!!

Once in awhile I see someone back here in MO wearing an In-N-Out teeshirt and have to SMILE!

Thanks for the memory!

A local chain called Luke and Tore's for Chicago Hot Dogs! Best french fries around.

Also, my husband swears by a place called Pita Inn. I've never been there, but he says they have fabulous Middle Eastern food.

For Chinese, I go to a place near my house called Fortune Kookie. Fab crab rangoon and egg rolls. For Thai, a place called Siri Thai for their fresh spring rolls--the ones with plum sauce. These aren't drive thrus, but I'm willing to go in and wait. smileys/wink.gif
