What's your favorite "fast food" - not homecooked? We had...

whoops, forgot to add, the fries...

are amazing by themselves, each order fried by itself, not in big batches, (one of my ALL TIME FOOD PET PEEVES is cold limp french fries) so they come steaming hot, golden brown, and crisp. Then, you can "dress" them with Cincinnati chili, onions, and cheese, or Beef Gravy (from the pot they make the open faced roast beef sandwiches with) and/or cheese. Oink. Oink...

WHITE CASTLE BURGERS...

IN THE CHICAGO AREA, WE HAVE WHITE CASTLE BURGERS. THEY ARE SMALL, GREASY, AND ARE THE BEST FAST/JUNK FO0OD AROUND. OH... AND ALSO BURGER KING TACOS. THEY TASTE JUST LIKE JACK IN THE BOX TACOS. P.S. I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING TO DINNER TONIGHT!!!

LOL, interesting that this is such a long thread for a cooking site...if I HAVE to eat fast food, I

like those fried chicken sandwiches at Burger King. The last one I had was on a round bun and they were better when they were on the oblong bun, imo. I don't always have a choice when visiting relatives where the idea of a good restaurant is Golden Corral.

Gayle, that was the location I had my first In-N-Out burger! YUM! Luckily (or not) there is

one a couple of miles from my house now.

AMANDA, I LIVE IN ILLINOIS

AROUND WHEELING, IL AND THERE IS A PITA INN ON ELMHURST ROAD. IT HAS GREAT FALAFELS (SP?) AND I'VE BEEN TO LUKE AND TORES!! AWESOME STUFF!

Oh, the talk of fish tacos made me remember Taco Del Mar...they have wonderful fish tacos. ..

I need to go there now...they are huge and so good!

My husband was working in Wheeling for a while and raved

about Pita Inn. He liked their $5 lunch combo special. Pita Inn even made it onto the PBS restaurant show "Check, Please." I'm in the Northwest suburbs as well...maybe I'll go check it out.

Have to put in a plug for Blake's Lotaburger in New Mexico.

Great cheeseburgers. And great hamburgers with green chili. As New Mexican transplanted to Illinois, I sure miss my green chili.

Papaya King in NY; Kirk's Steak Burgers San Jose, CA; KFC Slaw...

Papaya King (hot dogs) is TDF and if I could find the fresh papaya juice drink (no I haven't found anything like it even in sunny CA and I've looked) I would drink it nearly everyday.

Kirk's burgers - mucho better than In and Out tho they are better than most by far. They use ground steak over a real (wood/charcol) grill.

KFC - love the slaw. Often that's all I want.

Not really fast food but sorta since you can get it frozen is CPK BBQ Chicken Pizza.

Not a big fan of fast food... I am likely one of the very few that can say I've never eaten a McDonald's burger.

How about Lucky Wishbone in Anchorage for great chicken and the best burgers and cole slaw?

They steam the burger buns a bit just before serving and this makes them really luscious. And the cole slaw has a hint of pineapple---really different and delicous. That may be lunch today!

And a confession - I love chili dogs from Wienerschnitzel. Probably don't wanna know what's in em

but they're good!

Awwwwww...this is making me homesick for San Diego...

at one of our many Mexican food drive thrus; carne asada burritos, no guac or salsa with a side of beans to portion on along with their spiciest salsa, as I ate each bite. Control freak, me??? A resounding, maybe. lol.
